<p>Under the direction of the Dean of Teaching and Learning, performs managerial functions in directing and carrying out library operations to provide educational, informational, and cultural reading and multimedia opportunities for staff, students, faculty, and local citizens.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Manage coverage of the circulation desk, including helping library users locate library materials, reference services, and other library services. </li><li>Provide support to students in analyzing and understanding assignments and projects. </li><li>Provide individual assistance in locating information using library resources. Assistance may be provided in person, via phone, email, or remotely through Teams. </li><li>Conduct library orientation tours to familiarize users with library services and facilities. </li><li>Collaborate with faculty to develop, recommend, and facilitate new, innovative library instruction and services. </li><li>Manage collection development by reviewing, evaluating, and recommending new materials as well as evaluating and weeding materials for discard. </li><li>Catalog library materials in all formats to assure maximum accessibility and usefulness. </li><li>Participate in the creation and updating of library policies and procedures; communicate and interpret library policy as delegated by the Dean. </li><li>Participate in the planning process for library programs and services. </li><li>Maintain records and statistics and submit reports as required. </li><li>Teach library instruction in multiple formats. </li><li>Provide information literacy, research, and collection development assistance as requested. </li><li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on library web-based platforms, including the library website. </li><li>Manage the local configuration and functionality for the integrated library system (ILS), subscription databases, hosted proxy, and other electronic tools. </li><li>Coordinate the acquisition, licensing, configuration, and renewal of electronic library resources. </li><li>Investigate, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies improving and/or expanding discoverability, access, and services to library resources. </li><li>Assist in the procurement of library resources and managing the library budget and account expenditures. </li><li>Perform personnel functions for library staff, including training and resolving personnel issues. </li><li>Staff the circulation desk, complete inventories, shelve materials, and perform shelf-reads when needed. </li><li>May supervise student workers and volunteers. </li></ul> <p>Related Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Participate in institutional committees and meetings as needed. </li><li>Develop, strengthen, and advance collaborative partnerships with businesses, industries, community stakeholders, and professional organizations to ensure that resources and services are up-to-date, pertinent, and aligned with the community's evolving needs. </li><li>Participate in campus activities and promote library services to faculty, staff, students, and the community. </li><li>Participate in the College's recruitment efforts by reviewing and providing recommendations for program publications, the College's website, social media, marketing materials, and other community relations activities. </li><li>Represent the library on college, regional, and state committees. </li><li>Maintain a high level of professional skills and abilities through participation in professional organizations, workshops, and professional development opportunities. </li><li>Assist with inventory management of library equipment and assume responsibility for labs and other facilities designated primarily for the assigned area. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean, Vice President for Academic Affairs, or President. </li></ul> <p>College-wide Expectations</p> <p>WCC places a high value on creating an engaged, collaborative campus environment; therefore, employees are required to complete their work hours in person on WCC's campus.
