Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The City Traffic Engineer will be responsible for coordinating traffic management, traffic signal operations, signal timing practices, traffic monitoring, data collection and analyzation, maintenance of signs and markings, as well as real estate and the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects review.</p> <ul> <li>Develop strategies, tactics and work plans to execute the traffic engineering goals and objectives to ensure alignment with Street Operations, Public Works, and the City's vision and mission. </li><li>Work closely with Street Maintenance Traffic Section to upgrade traffic signals, to plan traffic signals and to synchronize traffic signals to enhance traffic flows, reduce traffic delays and minimize traffic congestion. </li><li>Work to improve intersection level of service (LOS) to optimize maximum and effective green times. </li><li>Coordinate the monitoring and collecting of traffic data. </li><li>Analyze the collected traffic data to determine the most effective and efficient traffic control devices to employ to enhance the safe and smooth flow of traffic and assess streets performance. </li><li>Work closely with Street Operations Maintenance to develop a preventative maintenance and routine maintenance program to enhance system reliability and to extend life of traffic control devices. </li><li>Develop plan to construct and maintain traffic signs and markings. </li><li>Review plats for real estate development and plans and specifications for CIP projects. </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires a Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Minimum of twelve (12) years of related experience </li><li>Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, or a valid registration as a Professional Engineer in another state is required </li><li>Previous registration in Texas or another state with the ability to obtain State of Texas registration within six (6) months of employment is required </li><li>A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Texas Municipal Retirement System - the City offers a 2 to 1 match.
