<p>Essential Role: Provides critical support to staff in the medical office by supplying accurate and timely maintenance of patient medical records,#keeping them current and the timely closing of patient files on completion of treatment as well as responding to and processing all medical records requests. Duties # Responsibilities: Maintains the medical record files; sorts, files and collates information; files into the correct patient medical records file within EMR system in the appropriate sequence and in accordance with established procedures. Assigns medical problems as priority for scheduled appointments per established procedures. Process and label documents.# Scan, process and label forms into the patient chart. Processes requests for information from outside sources in a prompt fashion, including answering phones and corresponding with outside entities to receive or send information. Examines patient medical records for completeness and ensures all required information is included. Classify faxed documents according to document class (or subclass) and to record information that identifies the document. Update current records based on information requested for upcoming appointments. Ensures that all required documents and releases are included in all patient charts. Maintains admission and discharge records. Perform routine clerical tasks. Work collaboratively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives. Processes release of information requests. Prepares routine correspondence; and#electronically file appropriate correspondence, reports, etc. in patient charts. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. All other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: One year experience in medical general office environment preferred. Demonstrates a courteous, caring and understanding attitude toward patients and fellow employees and presents a positive image. Knowledge of documentation and legal issues mandated by HIPAA. Ability to provide instructions or guidance and communicate effectively. Ability to work as a team. General Office skills including filing, organizing, etc. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required. Proficient in information management programs and MS Office. Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
