<p>University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a 100% Clinical Technician III to work for the Digestive Health Procedure Suite.</p> <p>Basic Function and Responsibility:</p> <p>Under general supervision, operates, maintains and repairs highly specialized, complex medical equipment for use in performance of tests and studies related to the treatment of patients and the teaching of staff personnel. Provides functional supervision to staff members.</p> <p>Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities - Clinical Practice:</p> <ul> <li>Understands principles of medical and surgical asepsis. </li><li>Prepares area and equipment for patient care. </li><li>Assists staff with care of patients during procedures such as transfers using ergonomic equipment, placement and dressing changes involving wound vac devices, ultrasound guided vascular access procedures, etc. </li><li>Coordinates centralized distribution process for equipment distribution used to provide direct patient care. This includes, but is not limited to, IV pumps, ergonomic equipment, wound vacs, ultrasound machines, mobile view technology, and GPS tracking devices. </li><li>Provides assistance to frontline staff in the utilization of equipment to provide patient care. </li><li>Prepares and calibrates highly technical equipment for patient use. </li><li>Performs necessary routine maintenance on equipment to ensure operational condition at all times. </li><li>Records, maintains, and analyzes data to ensure patient care needs are being met related to the availability of equipment. </li><li>Arranges for major maintenance of central equipment systems and bedside equipment with companies concerned or with Bioengineering. </li><li>Maintains inventories of expendable supplies for use with the systems and suggests orders of new units and replacement for out-of-date equipment. </li><li>Provides functional supervision and trains personnel as required. </li><li>Prepares and maintains emergency accessory equipment including periodic audits of emergency supply readiness and availability throughout the department. </li><li>Instructs other personnel on the operation of equipment and tracking devices as necessary. </li><li>Researches potential equipment purchases and provides recommendation to supervisor. </li><li>Incorporates the principles of Service Leadership to ensure positive patient/customer relations. </li><li>Performs other projects or tasks as assigned. </li><li>Adheres to UI Health Care policies regarding personal conduct, including: follows established leadership, remaining responsive to instruction and coaching from supervisors and meeting the standards of personal appearance, attendance and punctuality. </li></ul> <p>University of Iowa Health Care-recognized as one of the best hospitals in the United States-is Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical center and a regional referral center.
