Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Salary Range</p> <p>$89,000.00 - $141,875.00</p> <p>Overview In 1971, Yale University established Yale Health to provide health services to its facility, staff and students through a multidisciplinary health maintenance organization located on campus. Yale Health has more than 49,000 members including students, staff, faculty and their families who come from every state in the country and almost every country in the world and is committed to an inclusive workplace. We are celebrating over 50 years of service to the Yale community. Our state-of-the-art facility at 55 Lock Street, is where our members receive most of their care from our 150+ providers. It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, a 24/7 Acute Care Department, a 17-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy. The Optometrist assists as a member of the Ophthalmology Department in providing seamless, coordinated and compassionate care at every patient encounter at Yale Health. Responsibilities include: Define and document patients' clinical problems and reach proper diagnoses; plan and execute therapy in a timely manner; keep legible, cogent records of care; provide consultation and teaching for midlevel clinicians. Cooperative and supportive of the section staff; willingness to see walk-in and call-in patients when asked by support staff. Concern for the welfare of all Yale Health patients - work to build and provide care not only for their individual panel but be readily available as backup for other colleagues. Complete clear, concise patient document for all clinical encounters in a timely manner in accordance with organizational policies. Perform patient care work-ups as indicated, ability to perform visual testing and point of care testing as indicated (auto-refraction, refraction, OCT, visual fields, Optos, dilated exams, etc.)Flexibility in adjusting appointment schedules to meet changing clinical demands and a willingness to consider the needs of the department and other physicians when scheduling time off. Collaborate with Ophthalmologists, Department Chief and Yale Eye Center Specialists to coordinate complex and/or emergent patient care needs. Regularly attend and participate in department meetings, provider meetings and organizational committees. Participate in departmental quality improvement work and outreach efforts as indicated. Coordinate, develop or participate in all organizational and departmental related in-services as indicated. Meet regularly with Chief and Manager for performance feedback and evaluations. Required Skills and Abilities 1. Ability to use sound clinical judgment based on best practice standards and evidence-based medicine. 2. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to function positively and effectively as part of a collaborative and supportive team. Ability to positively and effectively work with a diverse patient population. 3. Superior ability to address patient and staff concerns; ability to maintain professionalism in all patient and staff interactions and positively contribute to a positive work culture at all times. 4. Ability to work in fast-paced, high volume work environment. Superior ability to multi-task and prioritize well, balancing in person patient care, message volume and telehealth demands as indicated. 5. Excellent attendance punctuality and reliability. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills Experience with electronic health record. Healthcare workers (HCW) are defined as university employees working a healthcare setting who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients, human research subjects or infectious materials including body substance, contaminated medical supplies, devices and equipment, surfaces, or air.
