<p>At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The annual base salary range is 375,000-$425,000, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.</p> <p>Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.</p> <p>Merrimack Health is the newly unified regional health system formed through the 2024 integration of Lawrence General Hospital with the Holy Family Hospitals (Methuen and Haverhill campuses). As of October 1, 2024, these three campuses operate together as one coordinated, mission-driven system: Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital, Merrimack Health Haverhill Hospital and Merrimack Health Methuen Hospital.</p> <p>Serving 13 cities and towns throughout the Merrimack Valley, the system delivers a full spectrum of high-quality care-from primary care to advanced specialty services in surgery, OB/GYN, cardiology, urology, and more. Merrimack Health is deeply committed to health equity, community engagement, and culturally competent care, with a focus on reducing health disparities across its diverse population.</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>Merrimack Health is seeking an AP/CP Board Certified Surgical Pathologist with responsibilities including surgical pathology and non-gyn cytology (no pap smears). We are looking for a full-time surgical pathologist with a negotiable start date of summer/fall 2026.</p> <p>The ideal candidate should possess strength and interest in general surgical pathology and be comfortable practicing in a community setting. Subspecialty training is not required but would be a plus.</p> <p>The Anatomical and Clinical Pathologist will be responsible for the accurate and timely diagnosis of disease through the evaluation of tissue, cellular samples, and laboratory test results. This role requires expertise in both anatomical and clinical pathology, with a commitment to quality patient care, collaboration, and continuous improvement.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Anatomical Pathology</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Perform examination of surgical specimens and biopsies to diagnose disease. </li><li>Interpret cytology specimens, including fine-needle aspirations and non-Gyn cytology. </li><li>Provide intraoperative consultations, including frozen sections, as needed. </li><li>Collaborate with clinical teams to provide diagnostic insights and recommendations for patient care. </li></ul> <p>Clinical Pathology</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Interpret laboratory test results in areas such as hematology, microbiology, chemistry, immunology and blood bank. </li><li>Ensure quality control and compliance with regulatory standards in clinical laboratory operations. </li><li>Consult with clinicians regarding laboratory testing, interpretation of results, and additional diagnostic needs. </li><li>Assist in the implementation and evaluation of new diagnostic tests and technologies. </li></ul> <p>Administrative and Collaborative Duties</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Participate in multidisciplinary meetings (e.g., tumor boards) to discuss cases and treatment plans. </li><li>Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CAP, CLIA, and state-specific guidelines). </li><li>Engage in continuing education and research to stay updated on advancements in pathology. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>MD degree. </li><li>Completion of an accredited residency in combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. </li><li>Board certification in Pathology (AP/CP). </li><li>Active, unrestricted medical license and ability to obtain privileges at all three hospital sites. </li><li>Demonstrated experience with laboratory quality management, accreditation readiness, and regulatory compliance. </li><li>Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Experience with quality improvement initiatives and data-driven decision-making. </li><li>Fellowship training and previous work experience at a community hospital is preferred but not required. </li></ul> <p>Compensation & Benefits:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Competitive compensation package, including base salary and incentive structure.</p> </li><li> <p>Comprehensive benefits: health, dental, retirement, CME allowance, malpractice coverage with tail, and paid time off.</p> </li><li> <p>Opportunities for professional growth within an integrated health system.</p> </li></ul> <p>About Merrimack Health</p> <ul> <li>Merrimack Health is the region's first health care system serving the Merrimack Valley, prioritizing care and services based on the needs of its patients.
