<p>The Summer Youth Employment Program, administered by the Mayor's Office provides jobs for the young people, ages 14-18, so they can learn to navigate in a business environment, contribute to the community, gain life skills, explore a specific profession and earn money. For more information contact Darlene Young at dyoung@norwalkct.gov</p> <p>Applications will be accepted from:</p> <p>March 1 - March 29, 2026 11:59 P.M.</p> <p>Hourly Rate: $16.94</p> <p>To be considered for Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program, the applicant must:</p> <ul> <li> Be at least 14 years old as of April 1, 2026; </li><li> Not be older than 18 years old as of July 1, 2026; </li><li> Be a Norwalk resident. </li><li> Have a valid Social Security Number in order to participate and ensure proper payroll process. </li><li> UNEXPIRED documents that establish identity and employment authorization will be REQUIRED during training (visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-9 for a list of acceptable documents. Once on the site view "Form I-9" or see below). You will be notified when to bring the documents. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p> PLEASE PRINT THIS POSTING AS A REFERENCE TO HELP YOU COMPLETE THE APPLICATION.</p> <p>I. JOB INTRODUCTION</p> <ul> <li> The SYEP is a competitive program and is NOT done on a first come first serve basis. </li><li>The position pays $16.94 an hour. </li><li> Program begins in July and runs through August. </li><li>Interviews will take place in April/May 2026. You will receive information by e-mail about the time and location of your interview. </li><li>If selected, all new participants are required to participate in a mandatory week-long Job Etiquette Training in June. </li></ul> <p>II. Email addresses can be obtained for free from a number of email providers.</p> <p>Please take note of the following information:</p> <ul> <li>Please write down your user name and password as that is the only way for you to get into your account in the future. </li><li>For individuals that are re-applying you must use your login information from last year's recruitment. If you do nothave/remember your password and username from the previous year please click on "Sign In" link located on the" Job Opportunities" page. </li></ul> <p>An e-mail will be sent to your e-mail account (the one used when you initially created your online application) with forgotten information.</p> <ul> <li>All applicants must successfully complete and submit the online application to be considered for the program. If done correctly, you will be taken to a "Certify & Submit" page (it should look like this): </li></ul> <p>Once you click on the "Accept & Submit" button you will get a confirmation message that states your application was received (it should look like this): </p> <p>Aside from that, you will immediately receive an e-mail message stating you have successfully submitted the application.</p> <ul> <li>IMPORTANT * </li></ul> <p>If you do not see Application Submitted page and do not receive a message your application was NOT successfully submitted.
