<p>Class Definition</p> <p>The Policy Associate assists the Superior Court Administrator with the oversight of the day-to-day management of the Superior Court relative to the direct supervision of personnel charged with the responsibility of the assignment of court reporters, court recorders, grand jury recorders and court secretaries; monitors the flow of transcripts and recordings to ensure timely delivery; responds to inquiries when notice of delay is filed; oversight of fiscal operations as it pertains to procurements; oversight of the maintenance of court recording equipment and software; review and analysis of new technology in court reporting; provide administrative support to Superior Court Justices and Magistrates; assists the Court Administrator with ensuring daily calendar coverages and issuing notices of same; coordinates library services; assists the Presiding Justice and Superior Court Administrator with the development and implementation of policies and procedures; and any and all other administrative duties and functions as may be assigned by the Court Administrator as may be required.</p> <p>Required Qualifications for Appointment</p> <p>Graduation from high school required, bachelor's degree preferred; requires extensive experience in a supervisory capacity in work involving court process, procedures and practice; ability to manage personnel assignments and performance issues, must have strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and the ability to multitask and coordinate services within the Superior Court system; ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; must maintain a high level of confidentiality; thorough knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Excel, court reporting software, the State's financial management system, Judiciary's case management system; or any combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the above education and experience.</p> <p>For information regarding the benefits available to State of Rhode Island employees, please visit the Office of Employee Benefits' website at http://www.employeebenefits.ri.gov/.</p> <p>Also, be advised that a new provision in RI General Law 35-6-1 was enacted requiring direct deposit for all employees. Specific to new hires, the law requires that all employees hired after September 30, 2014 participate in direct deposit. Accordingly, any employee hired after this date will be required to participate in the direct deposit system.
