<p>The Kim Lab in the Department of Biology at the College of Arts and Sciences, Syracuse University, is seeking a proactive and experienced full-time Research Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the principal investigator and other researchers to contribute to various research and operational initiatives within the lab. Our work focuses on advancing cutting-edge research into stem cell fate programming and its critical role in plant growth and development in response to environmental challenges. Using plant stomata as a model system, the Kim Lab is dedicated to uncovering the genetic and epigenetic pathways that drive cell fate decisions, with a particular emphasis on the pivotal role of chromatin dynamics in stem cell fate specification, differentiation, and maintenance.</p> <p>This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon grant funding availability.</p> <p>This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>A diploma or undergraduate degree in biology, plant molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, or a related field is required. A master's degree and/or relevant lab experience is preferred. </li><li>Proven experience performing research tasks in molecular biology, plant biology, cell biology (including confocal imaging), and/or biochemistry in an academic laboratory is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills. </li><li>Highly motivated, enthusiasm to learn, and is committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive research environment. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Research - Plan, execute, and analyze experiments, including molecular cloning, genetic analyses, confocal imaging, protein-protein interaction assays, and assisting with gene expression and transcriptomic/genomic studies, as well as other related tasks. </li><li>Plant Maintenance and Genotyping - Grow plants under sterile conditions, maintain and generate transgenic lines and mutants, and manage related inventories. </li><li>Lab Organization and Compliance - Oversee and manage lab inventories, handle ordering and receiving of supplies, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain lab organization. </li><li>Supervision and Training - Supervise and mentor undergraduate research assistants. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
