<p>Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Description</p> <p>The lab technician is responsible for setting eggs according to customer or management specifications. This role involves recording appropriate information on order sheets, preparing incubation tags, monitoring temperature and humidity levels, and ensuring customer specifications are met when packing incubated egg orders.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Set eggs according to customer or management specifications. </li><li>Record appropriate information on the order sheet such as date, flock number, and quantity. </li><li>Prepare incubation tags for orders. </li><li>Monitor temperature and humidity levels of each machine. </li><li>Candle eggs and pack incubated egg orders according to customer specifications. </li><li>Select appropriate eggs for breeder stock. </li><li>Set eggs for flock replacement and bird sales as required. </li><li>Complete and distribute all required incubation paperwork. </li><li>Input all incubation data into the appropriate spreadsheets. </li><li>Clean incubators and associated equipment with appropriate solutions and perform weekly fumigation while maintaining biosecurity. </li><li>Perform environmental sampling of incubators and complete associated paperwork. </li><li>Perform all other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Quality control </li><li>Laboratory skills </li><li>Biology </li><li>Cleanroom environment </li><li>Proficiency in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) </li><li>Aseptic technique </li><li>Sterile technique </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) preferred. </li><li>2 years of work experience, preferably in a processing or poultry farm environment. </li><li>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The role requires physical demands such as frequently lifting/moving flats of eggs weighing up to 30 pounds and regularly lifting/moving cases of eggs weighing up to 60 pounds. The technician must constantly position themselves to access and inspect eggs, assessing their condition from various distances within the incubation area. Regular use of computers and other office productivity machinery, such as calculators, copy machines, and computer printers, is expected. The technician must be able to accurately exchange information through various technologies, media, sources, and contacts.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Permanent position based out of Voluntown, CT.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $52000.00/yr.</p> <p>AVS Bio is the worlds largest producer of Specific Pathogen Free eggs as well as laboratory products and services for the development and manufacture of Biologics.
