This position is responsible for supervising the implementation of curricular initiatives to ensure that students achieve proficiency in all subject areas.</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.</p> <ul> <li>Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on Child Abuse Registry </li><li>Must be eligible or hold State of Delaware Licensure. </li><li>Must be eligible or hold State of Delaware Certification for the position identified above. </li><li>Proficient in Technology; Microsoft Office Applications, Children's Educational Software, etc. </li><li>Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups </li><li>Shows evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in promoting student learning while increasing student achievement. </li><li>Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job related tasks. </li><li>Preferred experience working with students who have multiple disabilities. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the District. Delaware Grade Band Extension Standards</p> </li><li> <p>Develops weekly lesson plans that contain all of the required components and differentiated to meet the Individualized Educational Plans of students.</p> </li><li> <p>Delivers instruction utilizing appropriate resources, computers, and switch adapted software, assistive technology, audio-visual aids, equipment, materials, technology and instructional strategies to supplement instruction and presentations.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides differentiated instruction based on the student's individual level of functioning and preferred learning modalities.</p> </li><li> <p>Plans and supervises paraprofessionals, volunteers, class projects, community outings, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities and guide students in learning from those activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provide students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops & implements a classroom management system</p> </li><li> <p>Provides a positive role model of appropriate and respectful interactions with students and staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops, teaches, and reviews clear and concise classroom rules, routines, procedures and expectations for students and support staff including nurses from outside agencies who serve individual students.</p> </li><li> <p>Follows the strategies and requirements for effective behavior management, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Trainings, and other behavioral interventions related to a student's disability.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist students in Activities of Daily Living to include personal care routines such as feeding and hygienic routines.</p> </li><li> <p>Assesses students in assigned certification area</p> </li><li> <p>Plan and implement academic, functional and community-based instruction for students with significant disabilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Administers appropriate and required informal and formal assessments based on student needs and State Regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Collects and interprets data and utilizes it to modify instruction, content, and to report progress to parents and school district.</p> </li><li> <p>Summarizes assessment results and provides information to other staff members and administrators for IEP development and/or periodic reviews.</p> </li><li> <p>Designs an instructional program based on core curriculum & adapted to meet individual needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Uses assessment and progress monitoring data, designated subject area curriculum as well as the Delaware Grade Band Extension Standards, benchmarks and eligible content to develop each student's instructional program.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and implements remedial programs for students requiring extra help.</p> </li><li> <p>Works as a case manager with the IEP team to decide what specially designed instruction and accommodations are needed for the student to be successful.</p> </li><li> <p>Incorporates research-based programs and strategies into the instructional program which includes Professional Learning Communities and approved resources & curriculum materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates /communicates with related service providers, parents, and school district staff</p> </li><li> <p>Daily implementation of therapeutic strategies as directed by the related service provider.</p> </li><li> <p>Follows the appropriate protocols when questions, issues, and/or concerns arise.</p> </li><li> <p>Apprises all parties who have a legitimate educational interest in the student of meetings, concerns, progress, and other issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Confers with parents/guardians, teachers, counselors, specialists, and administrator to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Establishes and maintains a cooperative and professional relationship with peers, support staff, parents, administration, agency staff and school district personnel.</p> </li><li> <p>Complies with Federal, State and Local Regulations and Policies</p> </li><li> <p>Accurately completes all required paperwork within the designated timelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilizes all available resource materials (i.e. Employee Handbook, District website, Collaborative Agreement, Professional Code of Conduct, Administrative Procedures, School District Board Policies, etc.) to complete required paperwork, maintain professionalism and to avoid potential violations/noncompliance.</p> </li><li> <p>Cooperates with Federal, State and Local Agency Personnel during Alternative Education and/or Special Education Compliance Monitoring and/or dispute resolution activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Remains current in certification research, instructional strategies, & technology</p> </li><li> <p>Attends in-service programs, mandated trainings and self-selected workshops, conferences, courses, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Reads journal articles, investigates internet resources and collaborates with other professionals and/or mentors.</p> </li><li> <p>Keeps certificate current and active by monitoring status, including clock hours, on the DEEDS website.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.</p>
