<p>Assists in the supervision of the safe and efficient 24-hour operation and minor maintenance of County movable bridges. Interviews, selects, and trains personnel for full-time, part-time, and on-call positions. Plans, schedules, and assigns the work of approximately 47 Bridgetenders throughout the County. Prepares and reviews time entry; maintains personnel records; performs related duties as required. Fosters favorable public relations with boat operators, employees, and the general public. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Bridgetender Supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and evaluations of operating efficiency.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>This position requires qualified candidates to possess the following:</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of one (1) year of experience in the operation of movable bridges AND six (6) months of experience in assigning, planning, and scheduling shift work for 24-hour coverage for a large number of employees. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Preferred qualifications include:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in the operation/construction of fixed/bascule bridges, </li><li>Experience interviewing/training personnel, </li><li>Experience using a 2-way/marine radio, </li><li>Experience with U.S. Coast Guard rules and regulations, and </li><li>Experience scheduling full-time, part-time, and temporary employees to ensure continuous 24/7/365 operational coverage. </li></ul> <p>NOTE: It is not necessary to submit another application for this position if you applied 3/11/26 - 3/25/26.</p> <p>Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
