<p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>Represent Waterbury Hospital and ECHN at EMS activities, professional meetings and community activities. Responsible for overseeing all educational and administrative functions related to EMS activities of Waterbury Hospital and ECHN. Serve as the liaison between the Emergency Services staff and pre-hospital care providers. Coordinate pre-hospital and EMS performance improvement. Conducts monthly training and/or Case Reviews with EMS agencies and providers. Represents the hospital on Regional and Statewide EMS Boards where applicable. Conducts training to EMS/Public Safety Agencies as needed or requested. Develops and Implements programs for EMS providers concurrent with new standards, changes, legislation, protocols as needed. Conducts quarterly meetings with local EMS leadership. Works collaboratively with the Medical and Nursing Directors to ensure that the Hospital's participation in the EMS system is in a manner consistent with the state law, policies and procedures and dictates prescribed by the local medical control authorities for populations served.</p> <p>WEIGHT</p> <p>USUAL RESPONSIBILITIES OR WORK REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>20%-</p> <p>Coordinate the educational and administrative components of EMS activities at Waterbury Hospital and ECHN</p> <p>20%-</p> <p>Develop and integrate a comprehensive Performance Improvement program for EMS providers and activities.</p> <p>20%-</p> <p>Provide continuing education as needed to update/maintain knowledge and skills of EMS personnel and Emergency Services staff.</p> <p>25%-</p> <p>Demonstrates ability and willingness to continually find opportunities to improve relationships with the community, hospital personnel and pre-hospital providers.</p> <p>15%-</p> <p>Act as a resource person for EMS, administrative, medical and nursing personnel serving the WH and ECHN area. Maintains required knowledge and skills.</p> <ul> <li>---- </li></ul> <p>Performs other related duties as required.</p> <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES/WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Paramedic (EMT-P), with current licensure in the State of Connecticut. </li><li>Certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Instructor certification preferred. </li><li>Three or more years' experience in Emergency Medicine and/or Critical Care medicine. </li><li>Teaching and/or supervisory experience in Emergency Medical Services or Critical Care required. </li><li>Working knowledge of philosophies, policies, procedures, legalities and technicalities of both the Emergency Medical Service System and a hospital health center. </li><li>Self-motivated and ability to work independently. </li><li>Exposure to all patient elements i.e., bloodborne pathogens, patient violence. May be exposed to environmental hazards i.e., toxins, anesthetic gases, by-products or elements, hazardous chemicals, radiation, electrical hazards and loud noises. </li></ul> <p>ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:</p> <ul> <li>Graduate of an accredited program for Paramedics (EMT-P). </li><li>Current Paramedic license to practice in the State of Connecticut. </li><li>Paramedic field experience, five years required. </li><li>Experience in Developing and Teaching of EMS programs required </li></ul> <p>THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION COVERS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DUTIES PERFORMED BUT DOES NOT EXCLUDE OTHER OCCASIONAL WORK ASSIGNMENTS NOT MENTIONED, THE INCLUSION OF WHICH WOULD BE IN CONFORMITY WITH THE FACTOR DEGREES ASSIGNED TO THIS JOB.</p>
