You will have the opportunity to leverage and grow your hands-on engineering expertise as you contribute to real challenges across a variety of domains.</p> <p>As a Systems, Mechanical, or Aerospace Intern, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of experienced engineers on the development of a complex ground, airborne, or shipboard electronic system. Working with a mentor, our interns participate in projects performing research, analysis, synthesis of data, trade studies, requirements development, concept of operations, prototyping, and risk reductions.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <ul> <li>Identify operational or technical gaps in current systems and recommend mitigations for fielded or new systems in development </li><li>Identify opportunities to apply emerging technology to the current domain </li><li>Develop and present prototypes and system models to help customers frame emerging technology trends to increase affordability, efficiency, and effectiveness </li><li>Engage in system concept development, requirements engineering, system architecture development and evaluation, and test strategy development </li><li>Use modeling and simulation tools to independently assess performance of techniques and architectures </li><li>Present technical recommendations to government program office customers </li></ul> <p>Basic Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Sustained excellence in academic studies. </li><li>Must be a full-time student pursuing an accredited degree program in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines. </li><li>Must continue to be enrolled the semester following the internship. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Currently pursuing a Bachelors, Master's or PhD degree in Systems, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or similar field. </li><li>Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and/or Unified Modeling Language (UML). </li><li>Science & Technology (S&T) capability assessments, trade studies, and analysis of alternatives. </li><li>Sustained excellence in academic performance. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. </li><li>Effective written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Demonstrates the characteristics of a continuous learner. </li><li>Desire to help our nation solve its most critical problems. </li></ul> <p>Clearance: In addition to passing MITRE's employment background check, you may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance.
