Through working knowledge, representative samples of tissue are submitted for microscopic evaluation. When appropriate, the pathologist is consulted during the examination. The Pathology Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Pathologists and the Histology Supervisor.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Preforms gross examination on all specimens submitted to the Pathology laboratory. </li><li>Retrieves/accessions specimens. </li><li>Enters workload/prints cassettes. </li><li>Loads tissue processors with specimens. </li><li>Stocks/clean working bench/area. </li><li>Informs Histology Supervisor of supply needs. </li><li>Disposes of wet tissue specimens following departmental/hospital policy. </li><li>Assists pathologist in retrieving organs for teaching purposes. </li><li>Utilizes advanced knowledge of tissue processors. </li></ul> <p>This document is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, or working conditions associated with the job.
