<p>Description</p> <p>Position: Community Aid Director</p> <p>Reports to: Executive Director</p> <p>Salary: $70,000/yr</p> <p>About Pacific Refugee Support Group</p> <p>Pacific Refugee Support Group provides displaced people newly arriving in the Pacific Northwest the support and community necessary to pursue a fulfilling life in the U.S. through our 5 focus areas: Community Aid, Community Education, Community Legal Services, Community Wellness, and Community Connections. Each of these areas is strengthened by our volunteers and partner organizations.</p> <p>Community Aid - Focuses on direct assistance to displaced individuals and families in the community including; coordination of rapid rehousing initiatives, emergency financial funds, resource navigation, and economic mobility opportunities.</p> <p>Community Education - Offers support services to displaced individuals and families in the community to increase access to each individual's unique education and career goals, with a primary focus on youth advocacy and education, English language skills, digital literacy, and professional certification.</p> <p>Community Legal Services - Assists in bridging the fundamental gaps in Oregon's immigration legal landscape by providing low-barrier legal support to displaced individuals and families in the community through Oregon's burgeoning Universal Representation program.</p> <p>Community Wellness - Increases health awareness and improves overall health and quality of life of displaced individuals and families in the community by conducting regular in-home visits, health workshops, and special projects such as our youth summer camp.</p> <p>Community Connections - Connects the newest members of our community to more established individuals - not only our own staff, but volunteers and members of partner organizations.</p> <p>Pacific Refugee Support Group's Mission</p> <p>Mission - PRSG's mission is to re-empower forcibly displaced individuals and families through social services, advocacy, and navigating a path to a safe, fulfilling life in their new home.</p> <p>Overview of Job Opportunity</p> <p>Pacific Refugee Support Group (PRSG) seeks a full-time, detail-oriented professional interested in supporting our mission. The Community Aid Director will fill an essential role in PRSG's work to help displaced families and individuals in their resettlement journey. This position will provide services that focus on (but are not limited to) supporting community members in the following areas:</p> <ul> <li>Assume full management responsibility for Community Aid programs and services, including landlord relationships, community partnerships, and supervision of staff in our Portland and Eugene offices. Though this is a hybrid role, in-person office meetings in either location are regularly required. </li><li>Recommend, develop, and implement strategies and tactics for operational and capacity building within the Community Aid response area. </li><li>Design and review budgets for Aid programs and review and evaluate financial assistance requests to approve or deny. </li><li>Coordinate benefits navigation and resource management in collaboration with the Community Wellness Director, such as: VAWA, U-Visa and T-Visa navigation, driver's license applications, income tax filings, WAP & LIHEAP, FEMA, and Oregon Lifeline (phones). </li></ul> <p>The Community Aid Director will work in collaboration with PRSG's leadership, staff, community partners, and volunteers to respond in the most effective way to the needs and requests of the community. The ultimate goal of this position is to ensure that the community members we serve are being well supported as they work towards their individual goals and ambitions.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Provide strategic leadership to a team of 4 in 2 locations by facilitating regular meetings to ensure holistic, transparent and dignity-centered outcomes taking into account the uniqueness of each location's community member needs and available resources. </li><li>Work collaboratively with other Response Area Directors and Executive Leadership to ensure transparency, accountability, and interdependence between response areas is maintained and distribution of work is equitable. </li><li>Develop, implement, and manage programs using a continuous improvement framework, adapting approaches, processes, and workflows based on team collaboration, data, and community member feedback. </li><li>Ensure all Community Aid initiatives are viewed through a Trauma-Informed lens, especially when addressing barriers to access for displaced persons. </li><li>Identify and mitigate program risks and improve program functionality through innovative planning, collaboration, and process mapping. </li><li>Foster and maintain relationships with other nonprofit partners, funding partners, and similarly aligned community based organizations to maximize impact and resource & information sharing. </li><li>Establish protocols for emergency response and immediate aid, ensuring the team is equipped to handle urgent situations safely and effectively. </li><li>Support collaborating team members in their aid work, ensuring focus and wise use of resources within program objectives. </li><li>Help secure and manage program funding including budget management, analyzing program outcomes and providing grant reporting to Executive Team </li><li>Present at conferences or other appropriate events to elevate PRSG's mission and influence broader understanding of our work. </li><li>Direct the management of community member data, ensuring confidentiality, ethical data practices, and integrity in collection of such data. </li></ul> <p>Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience navigating rapid rehousing successfully and a deep understanding of Coordinated Entry systems, Section 8 vouchers, and local housing programs. </li><li>Understanding of the Housing Ecosystem across regions, Social Determinants of Health, Fair Housing Laws, and local tenant-landlord laws to protect community members from illegal eviction and/or discrimination. </li><li>Ability to collaborate work toward a best case scenario with landlords to negotiate lease agreements and build a pipeline of friendly property managers who are willing to partner with PRSG. </li><li>Ability to de-escalate in crisis situations to support staff and community members during high-stress scenarios. </li><li>Well-organized, efficient, highly self-motivated, able to work well under pressure, and able to work independently and as part of both an in-office and remote team. </li><li>Professional demeanor and excellent work ethic with the ability to lead with empathy and respect and maintain team morale </li><li>Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, including low-income populations, people who are marginally housed, immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color and/or persons with disabilities. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Complete a criminal background check (a criminal record is not automatically disqualifying) </li><li>Possess current driver's license </li><li>Able to travel throughout the service area on a regular basis and attend in person meetings at either location, as needed/required. </li><li>Fluency or advanced proficiency in another language is strongly preferred. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>This job description is a summary of the essential duties and responsibilities for this job, and it does not necessarily represent an all-inclusive list of duties, responsibilities, tasks or procedures. Benefits include: 160 hours of PTO/yr, 18 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, a 401K option with up to 5% employer match (100% at 3 and 50% at remaining 2) and a 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision benefits plan. Mileage will be reimbursed at the federal GSA rate. Employment includes a Professional Development budget for learning opportunities and membership in professional organizations/associations.
