<p>Title: Maintenance Worker-Oak Ridge campus</p> <p>Employee Classification: Skilled Crafts</p> <p>Institution: Roane State Community College</p> <p>Department: Physical Plant</p> <p>Campus Location: Roane State Community College</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Maintenance Worker will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and overall functionality of college buildings, grounds, and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced campus environment.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <ul> <li>Responds to and completes work orders for various maintenance projects and requests in a timely manner. </li><li>Performs basic plumbing maintenance, including repairing faucets, unclogging drain lines, rebuilding and replacing plumbing fixtures. </li><li>Performs electrical repairs, including replacing light fixtures, lightbulbs and electrical switches and receptacles. </li><li>Drywall repairs, painting, replacing ceiling tiles as well as carpet and floor tiles. </li><li>Perform routine and preventative maintenance and to assess condition of buildings/systems. </li><li>Assists with indoor and outdoor College event set-up and break-down, including tables, chairs, podiums, risers. </li><li>Mow, weed eat, prune, etc. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED equivalent. </li><li>Valid state of Tennessee driver's license </li><li>Must pass a background investigation, including a favorable motor vehicle record and criminal background report. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Previous experience as a Maintenance Worker.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Excellent customer service skills </li><li>Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills. </li><li>Ability to use various tools and equipment. </li><li>Ability to work in different types of climates including both hot and cold, indoors and outdoors. </li><li>Ability to regularly push, pull, lift, move and carry 50-75 pounds. </li><li>The ability to be able to work occasional overtime in the evenings as well as nights and weekends to support campus events and/or respond to maintenance and weather issues. </li><li>Able to climb and work from ladders and scaffolding. </li><li>Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands / Working Conditions</p> <p>Balancing, climbing, carrying, driving, pulling/pushing, reaching, repetitive movement, sitting, standing, twisting and bending.</p>
