<p>Education:</p> <p>Minimum: High School Degree or equivalent</p> <p>Preferred: Graduate from an accredited school for Medical Assistant.</p> <p>License/</p> <p>Certifications:</p> <p>Minimum: BLS required through RQI</p> <p>Preferred: Certification obtained from a Medical Assistant School licensed by New York State preferred.</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>Minimum:</p> <p>Preferred: Prior experience in a physician office or other medical setting, or completion of accredited school for Medical Assistants.</p> <p>Other:</p> <p>Minimum: The Medical Assistant must demonstrate the ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain professionalism and courtesy when interacting with patients, families, and staff. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are essential to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The role requires an effective team player who fosters a collaborative work environment through positive role modeling.</p> <p>Preferred: Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and basic office software. Candidates should be computer literate to manage tasks efficiently</p> <p>Customer Focus:</p> <p>Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Healing Environment principles of being professional, communicating effectively and attending to the environment. This is evidenced by work behavior which ensures safety, promotes dignity, respect, well being, and exemplifies healthy relationships.</p> <p>Population Specific</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>The staff member must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed by pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient group.</p> <p>Exposure Control</p> <p>Classification:</p> <p>Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve a potential contact with blood, body fluids, tissues.</p> <p>Responsibility</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient delivery of care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients under the supervision of a physician. This role involves preparing patients for examination and treatment, facilitating medical procedures, and supporting care coordination. The Medical Assistant helps maintain patient flow and collaborates closely with both clinical and clerical staff to promote high-quality, patient-centered care.</p>
