This is a safety sensitive position as defined by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).</p> <p>Hiring Range: $23.21 - $23.86/hour</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Every 7th week, a Monday is scheduled off and a Saturday is worked from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Plus additional hours as needed.</p> <p>No residency requirement.</p> <p>The City of Green Bay is a leader in employee health and wellness with its Health/1265 program with a goal to engage all employees in their own health and well-being by providing insurance premiums incentives and other benefits.</p> <p>At the City of Green Bay we strive to foster an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging. We welcome LGBTQ+, women, and minority candidates to apply.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <ul> <li>Fuels buses and services vehicles, replaces lubricating and other fluids. </li><li>Pulls fare box vaults, performs safety checks such as tire pressure, tread condition, wheelchair lift operation and tie down stations, inspects wiper blades, notes overall body condition, checks and changes lights. </li><li>Prepares vehicles for the next day of service, including cleanliness of interior and exterior with use of power vacuum systems, power washers and drive through power bus washer. </li><li>Checks engines, transmissions, and hydraulic and electrical systems in order to identify problems or malfunctions and report problems to skilled mechanics or supervisors for diagnosis as required. </li><li>May make vehicle exchanges. </li><li>May operate wheelchair lifts manually and/or disable antilock system if required. </li><li>Maintains service records and uses work defect cards. </li><li>Keeps work area clean. </li><li>Reports unsafe conditions. </li><li>Operates Green Bay Metro vehicles relative to maintenance activities. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications Required</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>One year related experience. </li><li>Must possess a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record and the ability to obtain a Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement within six months of hire. </li></ul> <p>A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>General mechanical knowledge of the basic practices using in servicing, lubricating, and making common adjustments to automotive type equipment. Knowledge of hand tools and power tools common to mechanical repair. </li><li>Skill in performing routine, repetitive, mechanical repairs and adjustments on transit vehicles. </li><li>Ability to operate buses for maintenance. Ability to utilize a computer and the required software. Ability to follow written and oral directions. Ability to read and understand service manuals, work defect cards, etc. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and the public.
