<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: Non-Credit Instructor - Contextualized CNA - Adult Education (part-time)</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: EBD - Adult Education</p> <p>PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River, MA</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Associate Director - Adult Education</p> <p>POSITION STATUS: This is an MCCC/MTA, part-time, grant-funded, unit position without benefits not to exceed 18.5 hours per week. This position is subject to grant budget appropriations.</p> <p>SALARY: $35.31/hr</p> <p>STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>The Adult Education Instructor is responsible for designing and delivering engaging, contextualized instruction that integrates Adult Basic Education (ABE) with Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training. This position delivers high-quality instruction that combines foundational academic skills?reading, writing, math, and digital literacy?with healthcare-related content to help adult learners build the competencies needed for CNA certification, employment, and continued education.</p> <p>Working collaboratively with CNA instructors, advisors, and program staff, the instructor ensures that learners receive the academic support necessary to succeed in training, pass the state certification exam, and transition confidently into the healthcare workforce. Instruction emphasizes academic skill development, workplace readiness, and the application of knowledge in real-world healthcare contexts.</p> <p>The instructor participates in the development and implementation of an Integrated Education and Training (IET) curriculum that aligns with the Adult Education College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRSAE) and integrates academic and technical content relevant to the healthcare field. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate student assessment data, tracking progress, and meeting with students to review and update individual goals.</p> <p>This is an in-person, part-time teaching position based on the Fall River campus, totaling 9 hours per week. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with additional paid time allocated for preparation and planning, professional development, and required staff meetings.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and deliver contextualized lessons that integrate literacy, numeracy, language development, and workplace readiness with CNA and healthcare-related content. </li><li>Align instruction with the Massachusetts College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRSAE) and CNA curriculum outcomes. </li><li>Incorporate real-world healthcare materials?such as patient charts, care plans, and professional communication scenarios?into academic lessons. </li><li>Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including group work, project-based learning, and digital tools, to support diverse learning styles. </li><li>Develop a syllabus and daily lesson plans based upon program curriculum and instructional priorities. </li><li>Collaborate closely with CNA instructors to align academic instruction with technical training and certification requirements. </li><li>Participate in the design and delivery of Integrated Education and Training (IET) models that combine academic instruction with occupational training. </li><li>Work with program advisor and CNA instructors to identify and address barriers to student persistence and completion. </li><li>Engage in instructional team meetings to coordinate schedules, share progress, and evaluate program effectiveness. </li><li>Contribute to ongoing curriculum development and continuous improvement efforts within the program. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment data, and student outcomes in accordance with organizational and state reporting requirements. </li><li>Support learners in setting and achieving academic, career, and personal goals. </li><li>Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture that promotes respect, confidence, and active participation. </li><li>Participate in professional development related to adult education, contextualized instruction, IET best practices, and healthcare workforce training. </li><li>Complete required college training such as, but not limited to, Title IX, FERPA, Bloodborne Pathogens and Information Security. </li><li>Demonstrate professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community. </li><li>Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a bachelor's degree in education, Adult Learning, English, Health Sciences, or related field. </li><li>Experience teaching adult learners in academic or workforce development settings. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned to established curriculum and learning outcomes. </li><li>Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills. </li><li>Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes equity and student success. </li><li>Proficiency with technology for instruction, communication, and data management. </li><li>Demonstrated experience assisting students in meeting their education and career goals. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Adult Basic Education (ABE) licensure or Secondary Teaching Certificate. </li><li>Understanding of contextualized instruction and Integrated Education and Training (IET) models. </li><li>Experience collaborating with technical or vocational instructors to integrate academic and occupational content. </li><li>Familiarity with CNA curriculum, healthcare terminology, and industry standards. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action:</p> <p>Bristol Community College is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, age, veteran or military status, genetic information, gender identity, or sexual orientation in its programs and activities as required by Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, TitleVII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and other applicable statutes and college policies.
