<p>Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days), plus benefit package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. FLSA: EXEMPT. Salary Range: $</p> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>Under the supervision of the school principal, with assistance from school-based facilitator/administrators, the Behavior Intervention Assistant serves the educational needs of disadvantaged youth and "at-risk" students as assigned, providing specialized assistance to students and educators - addressing social, economic, and academic needs of students experiencing school behavior problems, parent/child conflicts, runaway, truancy, classroom paraprofessional duties, etc. This position seeks to resolve issues at the earliest possible level and in the least stigmatizing way.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Associate Degree or at least 60 college hours required. A bachelor's Degree is preferred. Two years of college or other qualifying program for Registered Behavior Technicians preferred. </li><li>Experience: Must have at least five years of full-time paid experience in a public school or youth-service agency regarding the implementation of positive behavior interventions and educational programming for students with behavioral needs. Minimum two years of experience working with school-age students with behavior difficulties preferred </li><li>Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances. </li><li>Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies preferred </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge and skills in standard office administration programs </li><li>Evidence of strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Evidence of knowledge of Educational Disabilities under IDEA. </li></ul> <p>Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. These statements are not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required within this position.</p> <ul> <li>Assists staff in developing and using behavioral strategies, positive reinforcements, social stories, peer facilitation, and peer training to teach appropriate social behaviors following students' social and behavioral learning goals. </li><li>Assists teachers with students in a group, or on an individual basis, with specific instructional tasks and/or specific student goals to accommodate their development and growth. </li><li>Communicates with teachers and other members of the instructional team regarding assigned students' daily progress to assess students' progress. </li><li>Assists with, gathers, compiles, and prepares data of observations of student performance in academic and school activities for the purpose of monitoring and reporting progress with identified goals. </li><li>Assists with or Implements and models positive behavioral strategies with students (e.g., uses of research-based strategies) to teach students to achieve positive outcomes. </li><li>Participates in training to learn new skills relevant to working with students with disabilities and/or peers. </li><li>Performs a variety of clerical duties (e.g., copying, filing, scheduling, transferring data, and materials preparation) to support the educational program and specific classroom requirements. </li></ul> <p>Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone, and write. Occasionally, the employee must lift and move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. In addition, this position requires accurately perceiving sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time and be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by the immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.</p>
