<p>Piper Companies is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer (Level 3) to join an advanced aerospace engineering team in St. Louis, MO (Berkeley site). This role is 100% ONSITE. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing system architectures, building SysML models, and managing requirements to support next-generation aircraft, weapons systems, and air dominance programs. This position requires strong Systems Engineering experience, hands-on MBSE/SysML modeling, proficiency with DOORS, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver accurate, integrated, and testable system solutions.</p> <p>Responsibilities of the Model-Based Systems Engineer (Level 3):</p> <ul> <li>Develop and maintain SysML models using MBSE tools such as Cameo or MSOSA </li><li>Translate high-level system requirements into detailed, traceable subsystem requirements </li><li>Use DOORS to manage, organize, and maintain requirement baselines and traceability </li><li>Partner with architects, software engineers, hardware teams, and mission systems experts to design and integrate complex system solutions </li><li>Support system architecture definition, interface management, and integration planning </li><li>Participate in trade studies, risk assessments, and milestone technical reviews </li><li>Contribute to verification and validation (V&V) planning for mission-critical and safety-critical systems </li><li>Document system behaviors, relationships, and architecture elements within the MBSE environment </li><li>Work closely with engineering leadership and Subject Matter Experts to ensure consistent application of Systems Engineering best practices </li></ul> <p>Qualifications for the Model-Based Systems Engineer (Level 3):</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field </li><li>5+ years of engineering experience </li><li>4+ years of Systems Engineering experience </li><li>Hands-on experience with SysML modeling tools (Cameo, MSOSA, or equivalent) </li><li>Experience using DOORS for requirements management and traceability </li><li>Background supporting aerospace, defense, avionics, weapons systems, or other highly complex systems </li><li>Experience with system architecture, interface control, decomposition, and verification planning </li><li>Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills </li><li>Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance (active Secret within 24 months preferred) </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with tactical aircraft, mission systems, avionics, or weapons systems </li><li>Experience with software requirements, test planning, or certification activities (safety-critical or mission-critical systems) </li><li>Experience using Jira and Confluence </li><li>Familiarity with airworthiness processes or military standards </li></ul> <p>Compensation for the Model-Based Systems Engineer (Level 3):</p> <p>Bill Rate: $77.40 - $96.92/hour</p> <p>Target Pay Rate: ~$57.69/hour</p> <p>Potential Conversion Salary: ~$120,000</p> <p>Benefits: 11 paid holidays, 10 PTO days (contract)</p> <p>Location: 100% ONSITE in St. Louis, MO (Berkeley site)</p> <p>This role opens for applications on 3/11/2026.
