As a Portuguese Language Bilingual Resource/ESL Teacher, you will design and implement language instruction, provide support and guidance to multilingual learners, and collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment. You should be knowledgeable in language acquisition and have excellent communication skills. The Portuguese Language Bilingual Resource/ESL Teacher implements a strong instructional program for multilingual learners. They are specialists in designated and integrated English Language Development (ELD)</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Design, plan, and implement English/Portuguese instruction for multilingual learners </li><li>Monitor and assess student progress </li><li>Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to maximize student learning </li><li>Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop language programs </li><li>Provide support and guidance to multilingual learners </li><li>Develop lesson plans and materials to meet individual student needs </li><li>Facilitate parent and community involvement </li><li>Participate in and facilitate professional development activities </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Required: CT-Bilingual cross endorsement and TESOL (111) certification </li><li>Required: Bi-literate in Portuguese/English </li><li>Knowledgeable in language acquisition </li><li>Experience teaching multilingual learners </li><li>Experience using a variety of teaching methods and materials </li><li>Excellent communication and organizational skills </li><li>Patience and understanding of cultural differences </li><li>Able to work independently and as part of a team </li></ul>
