<p>The Counseling Center Staff Therapist is an 11-month full-time position that provides mental health and wellness services for the student population at Syracuse University. Specifically, the staff therapist is responsible for the provision of short-term individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, drop-in services, consultation, supervision of graduate student trainees, educational/preventative outreach programming, and participation in the Center's on-call rotation.</p> <p>As part of the Barnes Center, counseling is an integrated service with colleagues in health, recreation, and health promotion. Counseling staff take a holistic approach to supporting students and are expected to be active members of the university community, represent counseling services on a variety of committees, and collaborate with colleagues across the university to promote student well-being and success. All staff therapists will lead one or more therapy groups.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree, or higher, in a mental health discipline (e.g., clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or counselor education). </li><li>Must be licensed or licensed eligible within the state of New York. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Strong background in group therapy, the provision of eating disorder related treatment, and/or background in the provision of trauma related care . </li><li>Experience with crisis intervention and the ability to conduct risk assessments and manage potentially high risk clients required. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. </li><li>Excellent time management skills. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in developing outreach education programming. </li><li>Experience working with college students preferred but not required. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provision of direct clinical services including individual and group therapy, drop-in, and crisis intervention, to Syracuse University student population. Participation is weekly clinical supervision towards New York State Licensure. </li><li>Timely completion of appropriate clinical documentation, case management, coordination of support services and care with other Health and Wellness offices and offices throughout the university. </li><li>Participate on relevant committees and/or teams that have the mission of promoting health and wellness in regards to mental health, substance abuse, and/or sexual assault and relationship violence. </li><li>Provide outreach/education to the university community on a variety of mental health topics. </li><li>Participate in the Counseling Center's on-call rotation. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
