<p>The R&D Product Development Specifications Manager is responsible for leading and managing day-to-day new product specification development, data collection, and optimization activities across all JBSS product categories. This individual ensures product specifications are developed and entered in a timely manner into JBSS systems and customer-owned databases. The role also owns key customer relationships related to specifications and serves as the JBSS technical liaison to both internal and external customers.</p> <p>This position is on-site 4 days a week in Elgin, IL.</p> <p>Functions of the Position:</p> <ul> <li>Manages product and process specifications and ensures they meet JBSS process capabilities while establishing gold standards. </li><li>Collaborates with Technical Services on allergen, Kosher, labeling, specification, and claims-related matters. </li><li>Partners with internal teams (marketing and sales) and external customers on new item innovation projects to ensure objectives are addressed clearly, efficiently, and on schedule. </li><li>Collaborates across all levels of the organization and supports QA, manufacturing, sales, and marketing functions. </li><li>Develops and improves processes, procedures, methodologies, and controls to maximize efficiency. </li><li>Coordinates projects related to specifications and establishes priorities to meet customer timelines and other requirements. </li></ul> <p>Education, Experience, and Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or another science major required; Master's or Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Technology, or other science majors preferred. </li><li>5-10 years of experience in the food industry working in R&D, Regulatory, and/or Quality Control. </li><li>Experience in food or pharmaceutical product development preferred. </li><li>Experience with product specifications and data analysis. </li><li>Experience with Product Vision and Minitab software is highly desirable. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work effectively with others and cross-functionally. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Strong organizational skills, data analysis capabilities, record-keeping accuracy, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. </li><li>Effective project management skills. </li><li>Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams. </li><li>Highly proficient in computer software and desktop applications (including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Product Vision, etc.). </li></ul> <p>JBSS is an Equal Opportunity Employer:</p> <p>All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or status as a protected veteran.</p>
