<p>This is responsible supervisory, technical and administrative work directing repair, maintenance, modification, overhaul, reconditioning, and servicing of gasoline and diesel-powered service vehicles. The position supervises chief mechanics, journeyman equipment mechanics, and other skilled and semi-skilled employees. Work also includes field inspections to determine abuse or improper use of equipment, revising and monitoring preventive maintenance and overhaul schedules and the preparation and maintenance of repair and cost records. An employee in this class participates in the selection, placement, promotion, safety, training, appraisal and discipline of assigned employees. Work requires the exercise of considerable independent judgment and initiative in carrying out assignments.</p> <p>Salary: $29.68 - $47.32 Hourly</p> <p>Close Date: 12-29-2025 (11:59 PM)</p> <p>To Qualify</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:</p> <ul> <li>Have a high school diploma or GED equivalency. </li><li>Possess and maintain a valid Driver License. </li><li>Acknowledge this position may require a State of Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver License with air brakes and selected applicants may be required to obtain the license through the City's formal training program. </li><li>Have supplemental, special training in automotive equipment repair. </li><li>Have at least six (6) years of professional experience in the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment. </li><li>Have at least two (2) years of professional supervisory experience. </li><li>Be able to identify mechanical problems, determine causes, and recommend corrective procedures or preventative maintenance requirements. </li><li>Be able to accurately maintain records, prepare reports and perform basic mathematical calculations. </li><li>Be proficient in the use of a personal computer to enter and retrieve data and to prepare documents. </li><li>Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. </li><li>Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must immediately be available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster. </li></ul> <p>Desirable Qualifications.
