<p>WSP is currently seeking a Field Safety Representative/Inspector for our Power Constructors, Inc. (PCI) sector for a project site in Louisiana. We're partnering with clients to shape how energy systems evolve around the world-and we need your help.</p> <p>This Opportunity</p> <p>Provides safety inspection support, technical guidance, and oversight to ensure and validate construction compliance with plans, specifications, contract documents, and codified requirements. Responsibilities involve performing and overseeing field safety inspections on various multi-site/phase construction projects of moderate to larger scale, scope. Generates and substantiates reports and documentation regarding equipment, construction, materials, integration, and operation specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, functionality, and sustainability.</p> <p>The Field Safety Representative is responsible for creating, implementing, and enforcing day-to-day safety policies on WSP projects. This individual is responsible for leading safety efforts, coordination, reporting requirements, and day-to-day occupational safety for WSP Engineers. This individual participates in the development, management, oversight as well as recording, tracking, and reporting of safety associated with WSP field activities. The successful candidate should demonstrate:</p> <ul> <li>Full knowledge about safety methods, construction equipment and materials. </li><li>Updated knowledge about safety methods and standards. </li><li>Mindset to approach safety duties with balanced respect for compliance and business needs. </li><li>Understanding, proficiency, and passion for occupational safety. </li><li>Ability to gain the trust of staff & management. </li><li>Collaborative, responsive & consensus building work style. </li><li>Remain current in latest inspection and construction knowledge, techniques, and practices. </li><li>Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. </li><li>Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. </li></ul> <p>This role reports to the Division Field Safety Manager, has oversight responsibility of project safety, and may work in the field 100% of the time. The successful candidate will work with the Division Field Safety Manager, the Corporate Safety Team as well as Field Services leadership to implement, promote, enforce, and ensure safety programs that align with corporate requirements and client requirements</p> <p>Your Impact</p> <p>Field Services Division</p> <ul> <li>Communicating known job site hazards to WSP employees, contractors, and site client/owner/operator. </li><li>Reporting safety discrepancies/deficiencies through periodic/random observations, safety evaluations, inspections, and audits of field staff & activities. </li><li>Generate and review Job Hazard Analyses, Tailboard Reports. </li><li>Reviewing contract requirements related to safety and health with the construction contractor and their subcontractors' designated representatives; including, but not limited to, rules and procedures, PPE, allowable working hours, and special work permits or specialized work procedures. </li><li>Informing the subcontractors designated representatives of the emergency response plan requirements respective to the job site. </li><li>Maintaining records to demonstrate program compliance. </li><li>Verifying new WSP employees and all others receive a site orientation prior to working. </li><li>Providing technical input into accident, injury, and property damage/loss investigations and providing details to the client and WSP management. </li><li>Approve, order, review, maintain, and distribute PPE where needed. </li><li>Assist with client safety questionnaires, audits, and surveys. </li></ul> <p>Corporate Safety Department</p> <ul> <li>Receive and carry out safety directives from corporate safety management. </li><li>Attend regular meetings between corporate and division safety leadership. </li><li>Lead and coordinate accident/incident investigations with corporate safety management. </li><li>Maintain safety certifications. </li><li>Respond to field safety questions, concerns, and directives. </li><li>Submit periodic safety audits, reports, metrics, evaluations, and inspections for corporate safety review. </li></ul> <p>Who You Are</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma. </li><li>Minimum of 9 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior safety inspection experience. </li><li>Essential professional licensure/certification(s). Safety Credential (e.g., CSP, CHST, CSHM, CIH, BS, MS, MPH) </li><li>Certification in related occupational safety field (e.g., OSHA 500/501, 10/30/10 ET&D). </li><li>Valid state driver's license. </li><li>Safety experience associated with field environmental hazards and work activity (e.g., dense vegetation, bugs/ticks, extreme weather, working alone, working near/over water, etc. </li><li>Certification in related occupational safety field (e.g., OSHA 500/501, 10/30/10 ET&D). </li><li>Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel). </li><li>Well-defined knowledge of construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques. </li><li>Well-defined knowledge of relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. </li><li>Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience. </li><li>Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. </li><li>Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies. </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. </li><li>Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools. </li><li>Competent critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from inspection and testing results, data collation, load calculations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution. </li><li>Ability to direct others in the field such as subcontractors and junior-level staff to consistently complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to specifications. </li><li>Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. </li><li>Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. </li><li>Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in closely related discipline is preferred. </li></ul>
