<ul> <li>Schedules staff to meet operational needs, assigns work assignment, job responsibilities and monitors activities of the Security staff. </li><li>Responsible for the effective management of the security department providing for optimum utilization of all Security officers and implementation of departmental procedures to ensure a consistent and high level of security and safety. </li><li>Continuously monitors quality of service and develops proactive training programs to continually increase the professionalism of the staff. </li><li>Utilizes independent judgment to ensure staff who fail to meet performance standards receive remedial training, and corrective action as needed. </li><li>Assists in preparing annual operating and personnel budgets, capital budget expenses, service and maintenance contracts and variance reports and makes recommendations for these needs to the Director </li><li>Configures, implements, and maintains, as needed all surveillance equipment for IP based cameras, access control proximity devices and all associated security related software and databases for all Cape Cod Hospital properties as well as new and future facilities. Assist with maintaining all other security related technologies including burglar and panic alarms for all Cape Cod Hospital properties </li><li>Assists Director in interviewing, selecting and training new officers. Maintains professional competency by staying up-to-date on the changing trends of healthcare security procedures and practices. </li><li>Conducts investigations into complaints and violations of security regulations and recommends course of action to the Director of Security. </li><li>Review and secure video surveillance as required for legal or disciplinary reasons and report finding to the Director. </li><li>Assumes the responsibility of the operations of the Security Department in the absence of the Director. </li><li>Implements and maintains an informational system that will document, preserve and record all security information, including daily logs and reports. </li><li>Liaison with Hospital Information Systems for Network Integration and manage all server configurations and hardware as needed for all security systems. </li><li>Work with vendors and outside contractors to obtain quotes and oversee work contracted for other security systems at all Cape Cod Hospital locations as requested </li><li>Reviews daily logs and reports for accuracy and approve final reports for submission and retention. </li><li>Conducts and documents fire safety and disaster drills to fulfill both JC and local Fire Department jurisdiction regulations. </li><li>Assists the Director with the development and implementation of hospital disaster drills and training. </li><li>Collaborate with others to implement strategies to reduce safety hazards, eliminate opportunities for theft and deescalate those who are in emotional distress. </li><li>Assists Director in developing a parking plan and oversees the enforcement of traffic and parking regulations. </li><li>Attend various meetings, committees, task forces, etc. to provide assistance/resources to other departments as requested and holds a seat on the Environment of Care Committee and assists with the tracking, trends, and future recommendations for program improvements and initiatives. </li><li>Attendance required at all education and in-service training programs. </li><li>Perform other work related duties as requested/directed by management and notifies the Director of all activities. </li><li>Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects Cape Cod Hospital's commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and service. </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Criminal Justice, Safety Administration, Emergency Management, or a combination of education and/or job related experience. </li><li>Certification and Membership in one or more of the following within 12 months of position: International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS), Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA). Must maintain NFPA Membership. </li><li>Minimum 5 years security experience in a healthcare setting required. </li><li>Must be familiar with existing hospital infrastructure. </li><li>Must have excellent verbal and written skills. </li><li>Ability to read, write and communicate in English. </li><li>Possession of a valid MA driver's license. </li><li>CPI (Crisis Prevention) within 4 months of new position. </li><li>Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) Instructor certification within 12 months of position and must obtain recertification every 3 years to maintain instructor status for all Cape Cod Hospital Security officers. </li></ul>
