This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. You'll be a member of our highly respected team of professionals with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.</p> <p>JOB REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Conduct field inspections for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial structures.</p> </li><li> <p>Verify compliance with the Florida Building Code, National Electrical Code (NEC), Florida Mechanical Code, Florida Plumbing Code, NFPA standards, and local amendments.</p> </li><li> <p>Document inspection findings and issue correction notices or approvals through electronic inspection systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide guidance and interpretation of code requirements to contractors, property owners, engineers, and architects.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate clearly and professionally with municipal staff and the public.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain current knowledge of code changes and participate in ongoing training requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate daily records of inspections, reports, and communications.</p> </li></ul> <p>SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, gas systems, and plumbing installations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read and interpret construction documents, engineered drawings, and product approvals.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication, customer service, and time-management skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently and manage daily inspection schedules efficiently.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with electronic inspection platforms and permitting systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment</p> </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:</p> <ul> <li> <p>DBPR FL Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing Standard Inspector License required or ability to attain</p> </li><li> <p>3-5 Years of experience in municipal code inspections</p> </li><li> <p>High School or Equivalent</p> </li><li> <p>Good Driving Record</p> </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li> <p>3-5 Years of experience in municipal code inspections</p> </li><li> <p>High School or Equivalent</p> </li><li> <p>Good Driving Record</p> </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Mobility & Movement:</p> <ul> <li>Frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling, or kneeling to conduct inspections. </li><li>Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, or unfinished stairways to access roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other elevated or confined areas. </li><li>Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving objects up to 25-50 pounds (e.g., inspection tools, plans, or small equipment). </li></ul> <p>Vision & Hearing:</p> <ul> <li>Visual acuity sufficient to read construction plans, technical documents, and observe construction details. </li><li>Ability to detect safety hazards and defects through visual and auditory inspection. </li><li>Hearing sufficient to communicate with contractors, workers, and the public in noisy environments. </li></ul> <p>Manual Dexterity:</p> <ul> <li>Use of hands and fingers to handle tools, operate inspection equipment, and use computers/tablets for reporting. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Work performed in both office and field settings. </li><li>Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) and construction site environments (noise, dust, uneven terrain). </li><li>Frequent driving between inspection sites and company locations within a region. </li></ul> <p>COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: SAFEbuilt pays competitive wages and has a comprehensive benefit offering.
