<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Employment Specialist is a 35 hour per week for 52 weeks, fully in-person role, funded under a federal grant. This position reports to the Director of Career Services and Internships. The main duties include assisting students with resume and cover letter, job application, job placement, primarily students within the Biotechnology and Computer Science. In addition, other duties include maintaining databases, executing tasks related to program and grant objectives. This position includes office administrative work and career development activities with focus on the Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing field.</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A</p> <p>TRAVEL: Travel between the Quincy and Plymouth campuses as well as the Boston site may be required.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Works closely with the Biotechnology and Computer Science/IT organizations with focus of increasing the number of students placed in the Biomanufacturing and computer science jobs. </li><li>Ensures adherence to the grant requirement and appropriately maintains all documentation. </li><li>In collaboration with the Director of Career Services and Internships design and implement career-oriented information session, employer panels, and other workforce related information sessions provided to all students. </li><li>Foster and develop strong community partnerships between the college and biotechnology businesses. Expand relationships with new biotechnology organizations. </li><li>Work closely with all the students enrolled in the biomanufacturing and computer science programs, assisting them with resume writing, practice interview skills and find a job or learn more about career possibilities </li><li>In coordination with the Director of Career Services and Internship supports students through selection processes at worksites to make sure that they are meeting employer expectations and engaging in productive work-based learning experiences </li><li>Provide career counseling to students and groups. </li><li>Develop and implement career development plans. </li><li>Assist students in understanding their strengths, weaknesses, and interests. </li><li>Conduct research on career options and the job market. </li><li>Advise clients on the best career paths for their goals. </li><li>Develop and maintain relationships with employers to create job opportunities for clients. </li><li>Maintain client records and provide progress reports. </li><li>Guide and lead under the Director of Career Services and Internships, career fair events. </li><li>Facilitate an environment that fosters the learning of all students. </li><li>Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, peers, and community. </li><li>Follow policies and procedures outlined by the VP of Workforce, Economic and Institutional Development. </li><li>To work cooperatively with other teaching and support staff. </li><li>Other duties as assigned from the Director of Career Services and Internships. </li><li>Participate in mandatory training/coursework. Including but not limited to: </li></ul> <p>o Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting</p> <p>o Title IX and Sexual Misconduct</p> <p>o Sexual Harassment</p> <p>o FERPA</p> <p>o Bi-Annual Municipal Ethics Law</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Preferred a bachelor's degree in Biomanufacturing, Science, or related nonprofit fields.</p> </li><li> <p>Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered appropriate area of specialization.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of the team</p> </li></ol> <p>OTHER REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Strong communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work in a multicultural environment and comfortable in communicating with limited- English</p> </li></ol> <p>speakers.</p> <ol start="3"> <li> <p>Strong planning and organizational skills and must be detail oriented.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with immigrant and low-income populations.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills</p> </li><li> <p>High level of customer service and interpersonal skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to deal tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of clients at all levels.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others in a culturally sensitive and professional manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet grants and project deadlines</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the Biotechnology and Computer science field.</p> </li></ol> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>Quincy College is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing an environment that is free from discrimination and harassment based on race, age, creed, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, gender, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or pregnancy.
