<p>Reporting to the Director of Education or Program Chair, facilitate student learning toward the achievement of course and program learning outcomes. Teach, inspire, motivate, guide, support, and help students in courses and program. Continually improve instructional and professional skills. Update materials in support of SAE courses. Set high expectations for quality of work and raise the bar each time the course runs. Ensure that each student completes coursework that achieves the goal of the class and is done with quality and attention to detail. Comply fully with all policies, practices, and procedures of SAE Institute as outlined in the faculty handbook, catalog, procedures manuals, and faculty assignment agreement. This is a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor position with an on going contract renewal as needed.</p> <p>Modern & Contemporary Art History Instructor Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide education that aligns with the SAE model of curricula and delivery </li><li>Establish a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement </li><li>Contribute to a learning culture by participating in academic advising, serving on curriculum committees, supporting campus events such as new student orientation and graduation, and participating in various other workshops and collegiate meetings </li><li>Manage the learning environment by keeping accurate records and enforcing college policies and procedures </li><li>Post attendance within one hour of the end of class, assignment grades within one week of submission, and final grades within 48 hours of the end of the course </li><li>Develop instructional plans to meet course competencies and develop course activities that support lesson objectives </li><li>Effectively plan and prepare for classes and student success </li><li>Contact and advise students who are at risk for attendance and/or academics to help provide support, and coordinate with Academics staff to effectively manage at-risk students </li><li>Maintain, update, manage, and ensure accuracy of content on Learning Management System (Canvas) for all assigned courses </li><li>Use the Learning Management System (Canvas) to effectively engage and communicate with students to supplement and support course and program learning outcomes </li><li>Maintain instructor eligibility according to applicable federal, state, and accrediting regulations </li><li>Abide by all SAE policies and procedures </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Modern & Contemporary Art History Instructor - Key Relationships:</p> <ul> <li>I. For example, an instructor teaching College Mathematics could have a masters degree in Environmental Science but would be qualified to teach College Mathematics if they have 18 graduate-level semester credits in Mathematics.</p> <p>For program courses toward a Diploma or Associates Degree:</p> <ul> <li> <p>A minimum of a bachelors degree; if the bachelors degree is not in the field that the instructor is teaching in, the instructor must also hold a credential in the field at or above the level of the program theyre teaching in.</p> </li><li> <p>A minimum of 4 years of industry experience since the completion of the qualifying degree</p> </li><li> <p>In rare cases, an adjunct faculty member who does not hold a bachelors degree but has extensive and significant work experience may be granted a temporary exception by the Chief Academic and Compliance Officer, with the expectation of regular demonstrated evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion of a bachelors degree during the approved exception period.</p> </li><li> <p>For program courses toward a Bachelors degree:</p> </li><li> <p>A minimum of a masters degree; if the masters degree is not in the field that the instructor is teaching in, the instructor must also hold a credential in the field at or above the level of the program theyre teaching in.</p> </li><li> <p>A minimum of 4 years of industry experience since the completion of the qualifying degree</p> </li><li> <p>In rare cases, an adjunct faculty member who does not hold a masters degree but has extensive and significant work experience may be granted a temporary exception by the Chief Academic and Compliance Officer, with the expectation of regular demonstrated evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion of a masters degree during the approved exception period.</p> </li><li> <p>Desirable Skills</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with learner-centered, active learning, and problem-based and project-based learning and teaching methodologies</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced skills in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel</p> </li></ul> <p>Modern & Contemporary Art History Instructor Additional Information:</p> <p>Sitting and standing for long periods.
