<p>Position Description</p> <p>Serco is seeking a CAD Designer / Hardware Engineer to join our growing team of diverse professionals supporting the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT). This position is contingent upon contract award, budget, and customer approval.</p> <p>In this role, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Design, build, and deploy rack-based IT systems, operator consoles, and simulated/emulated equipment. </li><li>Install and troubleshoot lab IT equipment to support development infrastructure. </li><li>Produce Level 2 CAD drawings of newly designed and deployed systems. </li><li>Provide mechanical design for rack-based systems to ensure safety, stability, ease of repair, reliability, and durability. </li><li>Develop CAD rack design and interconnect diagrams. </li><li>Fabricate and install system interconnect cabling for communications, video, power, fiber, audio, networking, and serial interfaces. </li><li>Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex IT systems. </li><li>Support remote system installations of equipment to support training systems (10-20% travel). </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience; or, in lieu of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience. </li></ul> <p>To be successful in this role, you will have:</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. </li><li>Proficiency with AutoCAD. </li><li>Mechanical assembly experience, including the use of basic hand tools to fabricate IT racks, custom consoles, and support onsite system installations. </li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to support equipment installations. </li><li>Basic knowledge of interfaces and networking mediums including Ethernet (CAT5e, CAT6, CAT7, fiber, SFP) and serial cabling. </li><li>Ability to decipher and install complex IT systems from a system line drawing. </li><li>Basic knowledge of electronics related to computer wiring and assembly. </li><li>Ability to support on-site installations at trainer sites (10-20%). </li><li>Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance. </li></ul> <p>Additional desired experience and skills:</p> <ul> <li>Active Secret security clearance. </li><li>Proficiency in Visio to support system designs. </li><li>Experience with Naval Systems, particularly submarine systems. </li></ul> <p>If you are interested in making an impact with a passionate team, submit your application now for immediate consideration.
