This role is responsible for managing engineering systems in the areas of automation and computer systems to contribute to the achievement of the Manufacturing Unit's safety, quality, and cost objectives.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain automation clusters and applications including server, storage, and virtual environment </li><li>Maintain backup strategy of all automation devices for data recovery. </li><li>Application of mature engineering knowledge in planning and conducting projects having a scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of responsible assignments. </li><li>Deploy windows update on all automation devices. </li><li>Work closely with IT on firewall rules implementation. </li><li>Application of innovative technology and techniques to resolve complex engineering problems. </li><li>Perform special study programs involving technical data of a complex nature. </li><li>Support manufacturing by working closely with the Operations, Engineering and Process Groups. </li><li>Work closely with all suppliers to ensure they follow Novelis network security requirements while accessing automation systems. </li><li>Set up and maintain work procedures and solving processes for automation systems. </li><li>Provide operator, engineers, and maintenance training programs. </li><li>Must be willing to keep current with the ever-changing technology, balancing it with the needs of the operations to bring forth improvements in process control, process automation and process management systems and methods. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical, Computer Science or in engineering subject area relevant to automation application or networking </li><li>5+ years of Automation Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment </li><li>Strong communication skills </li><li>Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Understanding of cluster architecture and communication protocols. </li><li>Experience in building client/server applications through Wonderware, HMI/SCADA. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in Windows operating system management and configuration as it pertains to a networked manufacturing environment. </li><li>Experience with SQL programming and relational databases. </li><li>Experience in software development with Microsoft Visual Studio / Development tools and C# or VB.Net programming. </li><li>Experience in Cisco server management and virtualization, preferably VMware. </li><li>5 years of manufacturing experience </li></ul> <p>What We Offer</p> <p>Novelis benefits say a lot about how we care for each other. The Recycling mill prepares scrap aluminum that is used in the rolling mill to create rolled aluminum coils to a desired gauge. Anneals temper the aluminum then it is leveled and sized to customer specification.
