<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Special Education/Intervention Specialist (Moderate/Intensive)</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>4/23/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Loveland Middle School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>08/08/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>04/29/2025</p> <p>District:</p> <p>  Loveland City School District  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>CERTIFIED POSITION(S) AVAILABLE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR:</p> <p>Loveland Middle School Intervention Specialist - Low Incidence (Moderate/Intensive)</p> <p>Job Title: Intervention Specialist</p> <p>GENERAL DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Fulfill the responsibilities of a regular classroom teacher coupled with special education techniques applicable to individual needs of exceptional children to ensure that they receive a high quality education by performing the following duties.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Valid certificate/license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education </li></ul> <p>PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Report to work regularly and on time, prepared to perform appropriately assigned duties throughout the day, in service to students, staff, and the community. </li><li>Prepare for and perform all assigned duties required by one's job description in a positive and collaborative manner. </li><li>Follow justifiable directives issued by the established chain of authority with a learning-oriented attitude and seek support when needed. </li><li>Identify, report, and/or if possible control unsafe conditions or safety hazards in order to maintain safe and secure working and learning environments. </li><li>Demonstrate professional respect and integrity when interacting with students, parents, staff, community members and other stakeholders. This includes and is not limited to verbal, nonverbal, personal and electronic interactions. </li><li>Comply with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines that prohibit coercive, harassing, threatening, retaliating, bullying or discriminating conduct. </li><li>Communicate in a truthful, timely, compassionate, and empathetic manner about any matter of interest to the District following the appropriate chain of authority. </li><li>Manage District property and assets in an ethical and responsible manner in accordance with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality of information as required under federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines. </li><li>Report actions, through the appropriate chain of authority that may represent violations of federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines. </li><li>Refrain from unethical activity that may reasonably interfere with the legitimate operational interests and goals of the District. </li><li>Comply with all other federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Implement IEPs by providing services to individuals and groups in special education intervention areas. </li><li>Plan curriculum, lessons, modifications, accommodations and teaching methods and strategies. </li><li>Monitor students' progress in all educational settings. </li><li>Maintain physical environment of the classroom and make accommodations as needed. </li><li>Use appropriate assessment tools and evaluation instruments to evaluate student progress toward IEP goals and objectives. </li><li>Prepare progress reports, educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other required forms. </li><li>Collaborate with regular classroom teacher when students are included in the general education classroom. </li><li>Discuss students' problems and progress with parents. </li><li>Conduct annual reviews on all students with IEPs. </li><li>Follow all policies and procedures for the provision of special education as established by the Ohio Department of Education. </li><li>Perform other duties as appropriate. </li></ul> <p>OTHER INFORMATION ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration. </li><li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret testing and survey results, financial reports, and legal documents. </li><li>Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community. </li><li>Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. </li><li>Ability to effectively present information to administration, staff, public groups, and/or Board of Education. </li><li>Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication. </li><li>Ability to use computers for classroom instruction and record keeping. </li><li>Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. </li><li>Ability and willingness to work with and make modifications for special needs students. </li><li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others. </li><li>Effective active listening skills. </li><li>First Aid Training and CPR certification required. </li><li>Frequent repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writing. </li><li>Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, and stoop. </li><li>The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. </li><li>The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud. </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>May directly supervise special education aides. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and negotiated agreements. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal or Assistant Principal, Director of Student Services STATUS: Certified SALARY: Based on training and experience in accordance with the district salary schedule.
