<p>Description</p> <p>Currently, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. The Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) is a specialist whose focus is the gynecological care of women across the lifespan including well-woman care, health education, contraceptive counseling and prenatal care. Women's Health Nurse Practitioner practice under the rules and regulations of the Ohio Board of Nursing.</p> <p>Essential Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Demonstrate high level of autonomy/expert skill in diagnosis/treatment of complex responses of individual/families/communities to actual or potential health problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct comprehensive health assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide health and wellness counseling.</p> </li><li> <p>Contraceptive care</p> </li><li> <p>STD screening and follow up</p> </li><li> <p>Pregnancy testing and care before, during and after pregnancy</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluation and treatment of common infections</p> </li><li> <p>Care for women before and after menopause.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with clients/families to develop comprehensive/realistic plans of care which maximize.</p> </li><li> <p>Expected to provide a budgeted number of visits annually that is calculated each year and provided - this is minimal expectation.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilization of highly developed clinical/interpersonal communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement plan of care effectively.</p> </li><li> <p>Encourage clients to assume responsibility for their own health.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with other health care professionals and collaborating physicians.</p> </li><li> <p>Make referrals and order tests efficiently and appropriately to meet needs of clients</p> </li><li> <p>Perform case management/coordination of care to assume continuity.</p> </li><li> <p>Observe and conform to standards of Third Street Family Health Services, including maintaining current patient records.</p> </li><li> <p>Observe/conform to all laws, customs/ethics applicable to the profession of nursing.</p> </li><li> <p>Participation in Health Center staff meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Participation in other meetings as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Participation in peer review audit of charts as designated by Chief Medical Officer.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify/implement strategies to maximize role.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in good faith in the peer review and risk management programs of Third Street Family Health Services.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in an equal share of on call duties and coverage of other providers.</p> </li><li> <p>Be a positive role model for all health center staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Comprehensive Knowledge of Women's Health:</p> </li><li> <p>In-depth understanding of women's health issues across the lifespan, including reproductive health, contraception, prenatal care, menopause management, and gynecological conditions.</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced Assessment and Diagnostic Skills:</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in conducting comprehensive health assessments, including pelvic exams, breast exams, and assessing gynecological and obstetric health concerns.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in interpreting diagnostic tests and results, such as Pap smears, mammograms, and pelvic ultrasound.</p> </li><li> <p>Reproductive Health Management:</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to provide contraceptive counseling and management, including prescribing and administering birth control methods.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of fertility awareness methods, intrauterine devices (IUDs), contraceptive implants, and other contraceptive options.</p> </li><li> <p>Prenatal and Obstetric Care:</p> </li><li> <p>Competence in providing prenatal care, including prenatal counseling, monitoring fetal development, and managing common pregnancy-related conditions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to conduct prenatal screenings, interpret results, and collaborate with obstetricians and other healthcare providers for coordinated maternity care.</p> </li><li> <p>Gynecological Care and Treatment:</p> </li><li> <p>Expertise in diagnosing and managing gynecological conditions such as menstrual disorders, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), pelvic pain, and abnormal Pap smears.</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in performing gynecological procedures, such as colposcopy, endometrial biopsies, and IUD insertions and removals, abcess and Bartholin cyst management.</p> </li><li> <p>Patient Education and Counseling:</p> </li><li> <p>Effective communication skills to educate patients about women's health issues, treatment options, and preventive measures.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to provide counseling and support to patients regarding reproductive health choices, prenatal care, and menopause management.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Care:</p> </li><li> <p>Collaboration with obstetricians, gynecologists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for women.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, advocating for patients' needs and preferences.</p> </li><li> <p>Cultural Competence and Sensitivity:</p> </li><li> <p>Awareness of cultural diversity and sensitivity to cultural beliefs and practices related to women's health.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to provide culturally competent care and adapt interventions to meet the unique needs of diverse patient populations.</p> </li><li> <p>Evidence-Based Practice and Continuous Learning:</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to evidence-based practice, staying updated on current guidelines, research findings, and best practices in women's health care.</p> </li><li> <p>Participation in ongoing professional development activities, such as continuing education, conferences, and certification programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Empathy and Compassion:</p> </li><li> <p>Empathetic and compassionate approach to patient care, demonstrating respect, dignity, and understanding for women's health concerns and experiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to establish trusting relationships with patients, fostering open communication and shared decision-making.</p> </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Current unrestricted Ohio license to practice. </li><li>DEA registration. </li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate clinical privileges/credentialing applicable to ambulatory and inpatient privileges as necessary. </li></ul>
