<p>Employment Type:</p> <p>Full time</p> <p>Shift:</p> <p>Night Shift</p> <p>Description:</p> <p>Department: Microbiology</p> <p>Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor</p> <p>Status: Full time, 40 hours a week</p> <p>Shift: 10:45pm-7:10AM, 5 days a week, approx every 3rd weekend and 2-3 holidays a year</p> <p>Minimum rate of pay: $30.13</p> <p>$10,000 Sign on Bonus</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, or university in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science. </li><li>May consider a bachelor's degree in science with a combination of relevant work experience in a comparable laboratory setting. Proof of educational transcripts must be submitted at time of application. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Relevant work experience in a medical laboratory is required if MLS/MT degree is not obtained. </li></ul> <p>Certification/Licensure</p> <ul> <li>Medical Technologist (MT)/Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - ASCP, or NCLS certification preferred. </li></ul> <p>Applicants for this position must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor an employment visa for this position.</p> <p>This position may also be listed as: Medical Lab Scientist, Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist</p> <p>POSITION PURPOSE</p> <p>Under general supervision, performs qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests on patient specimens, according to established standards and practices. Analyzes test results and prepares samples for testing. Is knowledgeable of the principles and clinical significance involved in test procedures and uses this expertise daily. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies.</p> <p>Performing over 220,000 tests per year, the Micro lab at Trinity Health is one of the largest in the state of Michigan. This is a state-of-the-art microbiology lab where you will be able to utilize your experience and skills, but also to learn and grow within this unique field.</p> <p>What you will do:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Records and/or enters laboratory computer results of tests performed and advises supervisor spurious, unusual or highly abnormal results before release of results for reporting.</p> </li><li> <p>Reports results of tests ordered stat and highly abnormal or unexpected results in a timely manner and according to established policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Compares test results with previous patient test results when indicated, calling attention of supervisor or pathologist to unusual fluctuations.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs required quality control and equipment maintenance and calibrates and operates laboratory equipment used in performance of the tests pertinent to the section) to which assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Notifies appropriate personnel of problems such as unacceptable specimens, equipment malfunctions, and quality control aberrations, in accordance with department policy on procedure.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares standards, reagents, and other materials used in testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Contacts nursing unit or client office personnel regarding results and for clarification of requests and other routine problems which may arise.</p> </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE</p> <ul> <li> <p>Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, or university in Medical Technology, or equivalent work/education, experience, or related science required.</p> </li><li> <p>Medical Technologist (MT)/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - ASCP, or NCLS certification preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Our Commitment</p> <p>Rooted in our Mission and Core Values, we honor the dignity of every person and recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings.
