All previous applicants MUST reapply to be considered. * </li></ul> <p>The Standards Division is a regulatory agency responsible for enforcing the North Carolina Weights and Measures Act (G.S. 81A), the Gasoline and Oil Inspection Law (G.S. 119), and the LP-Gas Inspection Law (G.S. 119 Article 5).  </p> <p>The Fuel Quality Section of the Standards Division in the N.C. Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Service is the regulatory agent in the state responsible for enforcing motor fuel (gasoline and diesel), heating fuel (kerosene and fuel oil) and motor oil quality standards. </p> <p>This position's primary duty involves the operation of ASTM-CFR test engines at the NC Fuel Quality Laboratory. These engines are used in determining the octane value of gasoline sold and distributed in NC for compliance with the advertised values. This is a standardized test method, so several operational specifications must be met prior to testing samples and maintained during testing. Work assigned includes the routine maintenance of the test engines as well as the calibration of the portable octane analyzers used by the field inspectors. Prefer knowledge regarding the chemical and physical properties of motor fuels.
