<p>Responsibilities for this Position</p> <p>Engineer I - Systems</p> <p>US-CT-Groton</p> <p>Job ID: 2024-13439</p> <p>Type: Full-Time</p> <p># of Openings: 1</p> <p>Category: Engineering</p> <p>EB Groton Shipyard</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>D428 COLUMBIA Class Electrical Systems is looking for a highly motivate engineer to oversee the development and integration of internal and external cableways. The candidate will work closely with the cableways design organization to ensure platform requirements are met.</p> <p>Cableways and their associated hangers provide a means of routing and securing cables throughout the submarine. These cables not only provide power to components but also are part of the information highway between systems.</p> <p>Cableways engineers own the products from concept to 3D arrangement to detailed design. Additionally, cableways engineers support the shipyards by performing ship checks and responding to trades problem reports.</p> <p>This position requires interfacing with multiple organizations such as fluid systems, structural, ventilation, and the arrangement team while developing the cableway 3D model. Interfacing with additional organization such as the shipyard trades, purchasing, planning, and NAVSEA counterparts is required through development and construction.</p> <p>Daily tasks and responsibilities may include:</p> <ul> <li>Assist design organization to ensure cableways meet system requirements </li><li>Review of 3D model arrangement </li><li>Development and review of cableways roadmaps </li><li>Perform engineering calculations </li><li>Review system function and performance requirements </li><li>Present cableways arrangements to an integrated team and NAVSEA for approval </li><li>Develop and/or review letters requesting NAVSEA approval </li><li>Manage cost and schedule performance of assigned tasks </li><li>Daily use of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and Visio </li></ul> <p>Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables. Please ask for more details on how it applies to this opening during discussions with the department.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills </li><li>Experience working successfully both in a team environment and independently </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Candidates must be willing and physically able to climb steep stairs and ladders to enter submarine and dry-docks, and ascend/descend scaffolding. </li><li>0-3 years relevant experience </li><li>Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering OR other related STEM degree </li><li>Ability to obtain Secret clearance </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Basic understanding of electrical engineering principals </li><li>Experience in systems engineering or project management role </li><li>Previous Navy operational experience on submarines </li><li>Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance </li></ul>
