The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in reading instruction and demonstrate a commitment to fostering literacy development for all students. This position requires expertise in evidence-based reading strategies and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Deliver high-quality reading instruction aligned with CT Core Standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize best practices in literacy, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.</p> </li><li> <p>Use of formative and summative assessments to guide instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, and support staff to ensure cohesive literacy support.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes a love of reading.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Valid CTDOE certification in (one of the folllowing): </li><li>Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts, 1-12 (102) </li><li>Elementary, PK-6 (305) </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of current research and best practices in reading instruction. </li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills. </li><li>Experience working with diverse student populations preferred. </li></ul> <p>Application Process</p> <p>Interested candidates must submit:</p> <ul> <li>A cover letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>Three current letters of professional reference </li><li>Proof of valid CT certification </li><li>Transcripts (official transcripts required upon hire) </li></ul>
