You will blend high-level vision with hands-on execution-defining the tone, messaging, and storytelling that resonates with our audiences while ensuring consistency, clarity, and impact across digital, product, and marketing experiences</p> <p>The Manager of UX Writing is a strategic and detail-driven leader who inspires and elevates a team of writers to bring our brand to life across every touchpoint. This role blends high-level vision with hands-on execution-defining the tone, messaging, and storytelling that resonates with our audiences while ensuring consistency, clarity, and impact across digital, product, and marketing experiences.</p> <p>You will guide tone, voice, and narrative structure across digital experiences and brand communications, helping to ensure alignment across channels. Your writing is deeply empathetic and grounded in a strong understanding of customer mindsets, needs, and expectations. You lead focusing on the user at the center, creating content that builds trust, reduces confusion, and empowers patients and providers to make more confident decisions.</p> <p>You excel at balancing both the macro and micro levels of marketing and UX copywriting. You can drive a unified brand vision while staying hands-on with the executional details. You'll craft bold, emotional messaging for upper-funnel marketing experiences and write clear, compelling UX copy that drives interaction across websites, mobile apps, email, and SMS. Your approach is rooted in continuous iteration, testing, and problem solving, with an eye toward both business impact and user outcomes. You're as comfortable concepting storytelling frameworks as you are refining button copy or subject lines.</p> <p>As a collaborative writing leader, you'll work closely with Designers, Content Strategists, Product Managers, Marketing, and Business stakeholders. You'll navigate complex business, regulatory, and user challenges and lead initiatives across digital, marketing, and product design. You will bring people and disciplines together, helping teams shape user experiences that are accessible, inclusive, and effective. Your work will span everything from defining microinteractions to guiding large-scale content systems across both owned and partner platforms.</p> <p>As a people leader, you'll be responsible for recruiting, mentoring, and developing individuals-helping writers grow their craft and careers while ensuring the team delivers high-quality, compliant content at scale. You know how to bring out the best in others, balancing strategic oversight with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and contribute to the work directly.</p> <p>You have a track record of developing brand personalities, delivering scalable messaging systems and frameworks that bring clarity, consistency, and compassion to every interaction. Your leadership empowers writers and cross-functional teams to execute content that's not only effective but deeply human.</p> <p>You should be prepared to share a portfolio that showcases your ability to simplify complexity, bring strategy to life through words, and shape experiences that resonate with diverse audiences. Your work reflects a deep commitment to connecting people to care, educating with empathy, and delivering results that matter.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <p>Include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Lead a team of writers, providing coaching, feedback, and direction to help them do their best work, tailored for the product or experience they're aligned to. </li><li>Lead and facilitate active collaboration with strategists, researchers, product leaders, legal, regulatory, medical, labs, and the respective Experience Design team members to produce deliverables that ladder to the overarching editorial standards. </li><li>Develop content across the full customer journey-including upper-funnel brand and awareness messaging, conversion-focused content marketing, long-form educational or evergreen content, and interface-driven UX copy. </li><li>Evolve and champion our brand voice to ensure it resonates with multiple audiences, products, and contexts. </li><li>When needed, review draft content, provide clear feedback, mentoring, and coaching. </li><li>Serve as a subject-matter expert in all things writing and help lead both partners and peers alike to help think how copy drives utility and inspires, equally. </li><li>Remove impediments and ensure delivery of the overall experience vision & OKRs. </li><li>Build and maintain collaborative relationships with senior leadership and other departments (e.g., medical, legal, regulatory, marketing) </li><li>Research and stay up-to-date to help lead the adaption of the enterprise-wide writing best practices, standards, principles, and how AI will fit into our perspective. </li><li>Create systems and strategies that help writers thrive. Lead the use of design thinking and storytelling, to compellingly convey the vision, flow, and features of the products/services being designed </li><li>Help support the writing, editing, and testing of content, and lead its improvement that makes our products and experiences easier to use across Exact Sciences products and experiences. </li><li>Understand how to write for and weave in the most recent Accessibility and SEO practices into your work. </li><li>Understand and prioritize problems, opportunities, and solutions that contribute to the product roadmap, strategy, and vision leveraging data, research, industry trends, and business objectives. </li><li>Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives. </li><li>Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork. </li><li>Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day. </li><li>Ability to act with an inclusive mindset and model these behaviors for the organization. </li><li>Ability to travel 10-20% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Mass Communications, Design, Computer Science, or related field; or high school degree/general education diploma and 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. </li><li>7+ years of experience in a UX writing/technical writing or related role and/or Business Process Management, Business Continuous Improvement or related field. </li><li>5+ years of processional experience working within a regulated document control environment. </li><li>5+ years of leadership experience. </li><li>Proficient with basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing. </li><li>Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation. </li><li>Extensive experience in applying techniques and methods of modern user content creation, discovery, and delivery - along with expertise with platforms and tools used widely by UX Teams (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, Miro). </li><li>Extensive experience problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills with the ability to evolve UX strategy based on research, data, and industry trends. </li><li>Experience in relationship building, motivation, and curiosity to bring together different personalities for creative thinking and collaborative solutioning. </li><li>Extensive experience engaging with strategists, product managers, engineers, researchers, SMEs, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship where you can both learn and influence. </li><li>Experience recruiting, coordinating, developing, and managing a team. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to agilely adapt to the respective audience (team member to senior leadership). </li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills with a proactive and logical approach to workload and ability to work both independently and within a team. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation. </li><li>Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in healthcare, wellness, or digital health. </li><li>Experience in advertising and marketing organizations. </li><li>Experience with service design and operations. </li><li>Experience with both B2C and B2B products and/or services. </li><li>Experience within large organizations </li></ul> <p>#LI-CB1</p> <p>Salary Range:</p> <p>$129,000.00 - $208,000.00</p> <p>The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location.
