<p>Schedule:</p> <p>Monday - Friday (40 hrs/wk)</p> <p>8:00 AM - 5:00 PM</p> <p>Department: Mass Spec DevOps - 813</p> <p>Primary Purpose</p> <p>This is a training position, preparing the employee to provide expertise in continuous process improvement and workflow optimization for mass spectrometry-based testing in the clinical laboratory. The Mass Spec Application Engineer I will apply knowledge of chromatography, mass spectrometry, automation, data analysis, statistics, analytical chemistry, and biochemistry to the implementation of improvements and workflow solutions to mass spectrometry-based tests in a fast-paced production clinical laboratory. Consider joining our dynamic team.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>Develops skills to serve as technical advisor for mass spectrometry assays and instrumentation</p> <p>Gathers user requirements, and contributes to mass spectrometry-based test improvement and optimization</p> <p>Assists clinical operations or support teams with problem solving in support of mass spectrometry-based tests.</p> <p>Validates instruments and writes technical documents as needed</p> <p>Prepares for and executes instrument installation, operation, and performance qualifications (IQOQPQ)</p> <p>Analyzes the impact of version upgrades on existing systems and provides recommendations on a plan of action related to system upgrades</p> <p>Assists the project teams in the cost analysis of new projects, supports capital acquisition, and provides justification for upgrades and additional equipment</p> <p>Trains staff and works with the lab to develop training modules as necessary</p> <p>Tracks and manages changes in mass spectrometry-based tests and documentation</p> <p>Develops protocols for maintenance and monitoring of instrument performance</p> <p>Effectively communicates project progression and any hurdles with team members and other key stakeholders</p> <p>Develops modifications for current procedures to improve cost and/or labor efficiency</p> <p>Performs literature review to adequately obtain and access all options for assay improvement</p> <p>Other duties as assigned</p> <p>Physical and Other Requirements:</p> <p>Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.</p> <p>Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.</p> <p>Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.</p> <p>Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicate with others.</p> <p>PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.</p> <p>ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.</p> <p>Medium Work: Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects</p> <p>Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling</p> <p>Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance</p>
