<p>EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Nine-month position; Instructor - Non-tenure Track; Assistant Professor - Tenure track</p> <p>PRIMARY DUTY: The School of Agricultural Sciences at Northwest Missouri State University is seeking an Agricultural Education/Agricultural Sciences candidate at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing undergraduate instruction in agricultural education and agricultural sciences which could include but not limited to Agricultural Mechanics and/or Horticulture. Ideal qualities: secondary teaching experience in agricultural education, experience in teaching agricultural mechanics or horticulture, development of supervised agricultural experiences, and FFA/student leadership opportunities. The ideal candidate is also versatile and willing to serve as an integral part of a diversified and active team of agricultural sciences faculty, possesses the ability to integrate technology and experiential learning into course materials, demonstrates potential for excellence in teaching and curriculum development, student support, university service, and scholarly activity in the role of Assistant Professor.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Teaching: Design and deliver courses in the undergraduate agricultural education/agricultural sciences curriculum. Teach 24-26 credit hours/year of agricultural education/agricultural sciences courses during the fall and spring semesters. Operation of technologies relevant to the disciplines while developing and executing profession-based learning opportunities. Additional summer courses and associated compensation may be available. Oversee and manage laboratory spaces relevant to coursework.</p> </li><li> <p>Creative and Scholarly Efforts (role of Assistant Professor): Professional development participation including grant writing and research activities relevant to the field.</p> </li><li> <p>Service and Student Support: Supervision and advisement of undergraduate students and student organizations. Actively participate in university service including committee work and participation in departmental service projects. Assist with fall and spring Career Development Events for the School of Agricultural Sciences. Work collaboratively with colleagues at the State Departments of Education and other agricultural education teacher preparation institutions, as well as the Northwest Missouri State University School of Professional Education.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Education: Instructor - M.S. in Agricultural Education or closely related field; Assistant Professor - Ph.D. in Agricultural Education or closely related field; ABD with a documented plan of completion by start date will be considered</p> <p>Experience: Demonstrated successful teaching at the secondary and/or college level with a minimum of three years of secondary Agricultural Education teaching experience; Proven ability to teach agricultural mechanics and/or horticulture and commitment to utilizing the three-circle model of agricultural education (classroom/laboratory, SAE, FFA)</p> <p>Skills: Evidence of successful teaching and curriculum development skills; knowledge of U.S. agricultural livestock and crop production systems; knowledge of U.S. food systems; effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; operation of relevant laboratory equipment; collaboration/outreach with government agencies and private entities; proven ability to develop strong relationships in agricultural education and agricultural industry</p> <p>Other: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical university classroom, office, and laboratory conditions with weekly office hours</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student employees</p> <p>EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Common laboratory equipment, common classroom equipment and software</p> <p>TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to complete teaching, scholarship, and service functions</p> <p>COMMUNITY: Northwest Missouri State University is located in Maryville, Missouri, a community of 12,000 with a diverse economy and a strong industrial base.
