<p>Description</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Administers pre-hospital care to sick or injured persons. Fully demonstrates proficiency and completion of each EMT level function.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Administers advanced/basic pre-hospital emergency care to sick or injured persons.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains equipment for constant state of readiness.</p> </li><li> <p>May participate in orientation and training of new employees.</p> </li><li> <p>May participate in training of students who perform practical rotations through EMS system.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists Emergency Room staff with daily operations or administration of care.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommends changes to lead staff to ensure smooth operation of EMS system.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains crew quarters.</p> </li><li> <p>Has successfully completed twenty Advanced Life Support Calls while riding third with approved Paramedic Preceptor/Mentor.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs all ALS patient interviews, skills, and documentation while under direct supervision of preceptor.</p> </li><li> <p>Completes required ALS clinical observation forms.</p> </li><li> <p>Periodically (every thirty days) reviews ALS progress report with quality assurance and paramedic preceptor.</p> </li><li> <p>Continually prepares for upgrade to Paramedic 1 level B.</p> </li><li> <p>Fulfills all other EMS contractual obligations.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs at least 2 intubations.</p> </li><li> <p>Rides third with approved preceptor for at least twenty ALS calls.</p> </li><li> <p>Fulfills all sponsor hospital medical control and requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position and performs all other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Required: High School graduate. Minimum two years' experience.</p> <p>CT Licensed Paramedic, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Valid Driver's License.</p> <p>Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Science. AHA BLS, PHTLS/ITLS, TECC/TCCC, NRP.</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity</p> <p>Occupational: Significant occupational risk</p> <p>Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort.
