<p>Job Description: Special Education Teacher</p> <p>Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans, delivering high-quality instruction and support services in alignment with each student's individual needs.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide both direct and indirect instructional support as outlined in each student's IEP or 504 Plan within a supportive, inclusive classroom environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and communicate clear, measurable objectives for all lessons and interventions.</p> </li><li> <p>Employ evidence-based special education strategies to enhance student development in areas including cognition, language, sensory-motor skills, memory, and social-emotional growth.</p> </li><li> <p>Deliver instruction in academic subjects using diverse, multi-sensory techniques (e.g., phonetics, repetition, visual and auditory supports) to accommodate varying learning styles and interests.</p> </li><li> <p>Establish and maintain classroom routines and behavioral expectations aligned with the school's behavior management plan.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate and timely service logs, data collection, and lesson documentation as required by district policy and state/federal regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings for students on your caseload.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as the primary point of contact for students on your caseload, including coordinating services and communication with families.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and submit quarterly progress reports for each student receiving special education services.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate regularly with general education teachers and related service providers during weekly team meetings to ensure coordinated support and accommodations.</p> </li><li> <p>Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including parents, administrators, social workers, and specialists, to develop and implement IEPs that address each student's academic, physical, and emotional needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the implementation and monitoring of accommodations during standardized testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Engage in ongoing professional development, curriculum meetings, and training opportunities to maintain and grow professional expertise.</p> </li><li> <p>Fulfill additional duties as assigned, including but not limited to administrative tasks and afternoon supervision.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong background and knowledge in Special Education principles and best practices</p> </li><li> <p>Valid SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with students with diverse learning needs</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication and collaboration skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain detailed documentation</p> </li></ul> <p>Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is an equal opportunity employer.</p>
