This position helps to maintain and review fiscal records, support general accounting functions, record financial transactions, assist with fixed asset processes, and provide administrative support. </p> <p>The ideal candidate will demonstrate bookkeeping experience; experience generating and reviewing financial reporting; excellent customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills; attention to detail; the ability to manage multiple priorities and the ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse campus community including faculty, staff, students and other campus partners. </p> <p>Responsibilities include: </p> <ul> <li>Support financial processing and reporting including monthly reconciliations, financial reporting, journal entry processing, recording of transactions, and assisting with banking activity </li><li>Support audit and administrative processes including organization of files, monitoring of tasks, compiling and uploading documentation for external audits, and maintaining accurate financial records </li><li>Assist FBS departments including supporting Payroll, Bursar's Office, Business Systems, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and the Post Office with customer service, reporting, and special projects </li><li>Assist with inventory and asset management including fixed asset tracking, inventory reviews, and coordination of surplus property </li><li>Provide excellent service to internal and external stakeholders including faculty, staff, students and vendors </li><li>Maintain FBS general email accounts and responds to routine inquiries </li><li>Assist with mailings and other communications as needed </li><li>Support office operations including facilities coordination, mail sorting, signage updates, work order entry, website updates, and office supply maintenance </li><li>Attend training as needed </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li><li>One year as a Fiscal Assistant OR </li><li>Three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices; and graduation from high school OR </li><li>One year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an Associate degree in accounting or business administration OR </li><li>Any equivalent combination of experience and training </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Thorough knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices </li><li>Knowledge of modern office practices and equipment </li><li>Some knowledge of accounting principles and methods </li><li>Ability to perform detailed work involving written or numerical data and to make arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately </li><li>Ability to prepare financial reports and statements </li><li>Ability to apply and adapt established methods to financial transactions </li><li>Experience processing journal entries </li><li>Experience supporting monthly reconciliations </li><li>Experience generating and reviewing financial reports </li><li>Customer service experience </li><li>Excellent written communication skills </li><li>Higher education experience </li><li>Experience with student information and document management systems used in higher education such as SAP and BI (Business Intelligence), Ellucian Banner, and OnBase </li></ul> <p>Ask about opportunities for partial work from home and WCU alternate work schedules.</p> <p>Candidates should apply online at https://www.schooljobs.com/careers/wcupa.
