Primary responsibility of the Locksmith is the installing, repairing, modifying, and opening of a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults. The Locksmith makes new or duplicate keys, using key cutting machine, changes combination by inserting new or repaired tumblers into lock, and establishes keying systems for buildings. The ideal EMI Locksmith is experienced in the methods and materials of the locksmith trade including complex access and control systems.</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>$25.40 /hr. plus $4.93 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!</p> <p>See ALL the fantastic benefits you receive as an employee of EMI below!!</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Examine locking mechanisms </li><li>install new unit or disassemble unit and replace worn tumblers, springs, and other parts or repair them by filing, drilling, chiseling and grinding </li><li>Opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder or open safe locks by listening to lock sounds or drilling </li><li>Install, repair and maintain commercial lockable hardware </li><li>such as doors, automatic electric door, windows, lockers and magnetic keying systems </li><li>Produce and/or modify hardware for locks </li><li>Make new keys & replace broken or lost keys </li><li>Develop a biting list and maintain master key system </li><li>Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service </li><li>Assist and serve as back up to other Structural shop employees </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the practices and procedures of the methods, materials and tools used in the locksmith trade </li><li>including complex access and control systems </li><li>Knowledge of all types of locks, fastening devices and related hardware </li><li>Working knowledge of electrical locking and security systems and devices </li><li>Understanding of applicable code requirements, including those regulations pertaining to fire exits and door hardware. </li><li>Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in both rough and finished carpentry in commercial/industrial settings </li><li>applicable building and safety code requirements </li><li>methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment </li><li>Knowledge of building architectural/structural elements </li><li>including alterations and repairs </li><li>Adaptable and flexible in work situations </li><li>PRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies </li><li>Including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) </li></ul>
