This position also includes managing and evolving the school's library media center to support 21st-century skills, digital literacy, and equitable access to information.</p> <p>This unique hybrid role empowers a certified educator to cultivate creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning-both through innovative STEAM instruction and by serving as an instructional leader in media literacy and research practices.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Design and deliver hands-on, project-based learning experiences across STEAM disciplines, aligned with state and national standards. </li><li>Facilitate interdisciplinary learning that encourages innovation, design thinking, and real-world problem-solving. </li><li>Maintain a makerspace or innovation lab, ensuring safe and effective use of materials and technology (e.g., robotics kits, 3D printers, coding tools) to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration. </li><li>Support student participation in STEAM-related competitions, clubs, or showcases. </li><li>Attend professional development and training related to STEAM programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research. </li><li>Curate and manage a diverse, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate collection of print and digital resources. </li><li>Foster a reading culture by promoting a love of reading and learning </li><li>Teach students how to access, evaluate, and ethically use information and technology. </li><li>Ensure that the library functions as a flexible learning space for collaboration, research, and exploration. </li><li>Perform other duties related to content area instructional improvement and student learning, as assigned by the Superintendent or Principal </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>CT Certification in one or more of the following: Elementary Education 305, Technology Education 047, Library Media Specialist 062, General Science 034 or 234 or 235. Other valid CT certifications can be considered </li><li>Proven, extensive experience with Inquiry-based Instruction </li><li>Three years teaching experience (preferred) </li><li>Strong classroom management and student engagement skills. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Experience managing a school library/media center. </li><li>Extensive work experience in STEM/STEAM preferred. </li><li>Evidence of at least three years of exemplary classroom teaching experience. </li><li>Deep understanding of Engineering Principles, Inquiry-based Instruction, NGSS, AASL and CCSS. </li><li>Knowledge of coding, robotics, 3D design, or other emerging technologies. </li><li>Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to support cross-curricular initiatives. </li><li>Excellent communication skills. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS</p> <ul> <li>Per contract with Winchester Education Association. </li><li>Pay Ranges $44,147.00 - $97,776.00 </li></ul> <p>EVALUATION</p> <ul> <li>Evaluation shall be performed by the building principal. </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Must pass federal and local background checks. </li><li>Must have reliable transportation. </li><li>Must complete all pre-employment requirements before the start date. </li><li>Must be able to lift 50 pounds </li></ul> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURE</p> <p>Please visit the Winchester Public Schools website to apply online at www.winchesterschools.org.
