Wolfe Palm House; botanical gardens including the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Childrens Garden and Scotts Miracle Gro-Foundation Community Garden Campus; and event venues. The Conservatory is home to the largest collection of Chihuly glass in a botanical garden and Light Raiment II by internationally renowned artist James Turrell. Committed to the community, the Conservatory strives to provide an accessible and welcoming experience to all.</p> <p>MISSION</p> <p>As a premier botanical garden destination, we connect people to nature and create life enhancing experiences.</p> <p>VISION</p> <p>Envision a world that celebrates nature as essential to the human experience.</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>The Seasonal Outreach Educator delivers in-school programs at Columbus City Schools (CCS) as</p> <p>part of a partnership to create a fun, camp-like summer school experience. The Outreach Educator</p> <p>engages, inspires, educates, and captivates CCS students in grades K-4, utilizing educational</p> <p>objectives. Programming will be taught in-person, weekdays. The Seasonal Outreach Educator</p> <p>assists with the delivery of educational programs as assigned and serves as an active member of the</p> <p>Community Outreach & Education Team.</p> <p>This is a part time seasonal position. The position starts 6/18/25 and ends 7/19/25; working 15-20 hours per week.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Under the direction of the School Program Manager:</p> <ul> <li>Travels to and delivers educational programming at Columbus City Schools and onsite at the Conservatory as assigned. </li><li>Works cooperatively with Education staff to implement creative, fun, and marketable educational outreach programs. </li><li>Along with all COE Team members: prepares, copies, collates, distributes, and retrieves teaching and other support materials. </li><li>Assists with program evaluation and assessment. </li><li>Participates as an active member of the team to help envision future educational programming and projects as they relate to overall Conservatory growth. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned and demonstrates a focus on serving patrons of the Conservatory, maintaining the highest standards of customer service. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED</p> <ul> <li>Completed at least 1 year towards an Associate or Bachelors degree in Education, Natural Science, Environment, Biology, Fine Arts, or similar field. Experience with special education is a bonus. </li><li>Proficient in the techniques of informal learning with a keen interest in sharing knowledge. </li><li>Experience in teaching children and youth in either a formal or informal education environment is preferred. </li><li>Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Drive. </li><li>Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS REQUIRED AND RESULTS TYPICALLY ACHIEVED</p> <ul> <li>Ability to engage groups of students with enthusiasm. </li><li>Ability to do some programmatic work and research offsite (computer, web access). </li><li>A professional demeanor with highly developed interpersonal skills. </li><li>Self-confident and skilled at public speaking. </li><li>Must have transportation to school sites. </li><li>Ability to work weekday mornings (M-F, 8:00 AM -1:00 PM). </li><li>Ability to work in a team setting. </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain on an exact schedule of events. </li><li>Ability to deliver educational content that follows written lessons and departmental goals. </li><li>Ability to walk up to 3 miles/day, and lift up to 25 pounds with or without accommodation. </li></ul> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
