<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Provide high quality, continuous and comprehensive nutrition services based on progressive knowledge to create and support an intercollegiate culture where athletes, coaches, and staff recognize nutrition as a critical element in academic and athletic performance. Evaluate nutrition status and needs of individual student-athletes and athletic teams in order to develop, implement, and evaluate appropriate nutrition education, dietary plans in order to enhance athletic performance and general well-being.</p> <p>About the Work Unit:</p> <p>Vanderbilt University's Athletics Department prepares student-athletes to become leaders and champions in life by placing the highest values on integrity, character, sportsmanship and victory. Vanderbilt is a charter member of the Southeastern Conference and is the conference's only private school. The university fields 17 varsity teams, 15 of which compete in the Southeastern Conference.</p> <p>Key Functions and Expected Performance:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide nutrition education and counseling to student athletes</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in fueling station duties: stocking, inventory, and ordering</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in all aspects of performance nutrition for designated sports</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with coordination of outside catering for competition meals, pre and post-game meals, along with daily execution of performance meals.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with coaching, sports medicine, counseling, strength and conditioning staff to provide updates on nutrition concerns, priorities, and accomplishments made by athletes</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct Grocery Store tours, develop educational materials, manage nutrition social media accounts for the student athletes</p> </li><li> <p>Provide Education on banned substances and supplements per NCAA Guidelines</p> </li><li> <p>Analyze and evaluate lab values</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct body composition testing</p> </li><li> <p>Learn to plan and optimize budget for optimal nutrition</p> </li><li> <p>Learn about menu planning for the Hendrix Dining Hall</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Nutrition</p> </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Relationships:</p> <p>This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility and reports administratively and functionally to the Director of Sports Nutrition and is part of the department's Sport Performance team.</p> <p>Education and Certifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>A Bachelor's degree is required.</p> </li><li> <p>A Master's Degree is preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>RD certification is required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Experience and Skills:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Demonstrate effective communication, strong interpersonal and team oriented skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work a non-standard work week which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, travel if needed with teams</p> </li><li> <p>Strong time management and ability to work independently and follow through on assignments</p> </li></ul> <p>This is a term position with an anticipated end date no later than June 30, 2026.</p>
