Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Cardiac Procedures Unit is currently seeking a Paramedic to join its established RN, Medical Assistant, and clerical team in the prep area. This position is located in the Cardiovascular Center.</p> <p>Responsibilities*</p> <p>Characteristic duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Measure, report, interpret, and record vital signs, cardiac rhythm, for assigned patients in the ED and during diagnostic imaging procedures. </li><li>Measure and record intake and output </li><li>Obtain venous and arterial blood samples and process specimens. </li><li>Perform peripheral intravenous catheter insertion and initiation of fluid therapy. </li><li>Provide comfort measures, transport and ambulate patients. </li><li>Initiate C-spine immobilization, including rigid cervical collar and backboard. </li><li>Apply splints and various orthopedic soft goods. </li><li>Clean and irrigate wounds. Apply clean and sterile dressings. </li><li>Assist with Respiratory care: set up nasal cannula, venti-mask, and non-rebreather. </li><li>Assist in prepping and monitoring patients for emergency procedures. </li><li>Perform adult male and female catheterization. </li><li>Provide ongoing monitoring and care for restrained patients. </li><li>Clean equipment and work area. Stock medical/surgical supplies, etc. </li><li>Provide basic response to medical emergencies within the UMHHC. </li><li>Respond as member of UMHHC cardiac arrest team. </li><li>Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas. </li><li>Perform EKGs, monitor telemetry, answer call lights, and do patient rounding </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications*</p> <ul> <li>High school graduation or an equivalent combination or education and experience. </li><li>2 years of recent (within one year) experience as a Paramedic. </li><li>Current licensure as a Paramedic (A-EMT) by the State of Michigan. </li><li>Current Basic Life Support Provider verification. </li><li>Advanced cardiac Life Support Provider (ACLS). </li><li>This classification requires Primary Source Verification </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications*</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Mi-chart/Epic Documentation </li><li>Excellent interpersonal communication skills. </li><li>Excellent clinical skills including but not limited to IV insertion, veni-puncture, and arrhythmia recognition. </li><li>Excellent organizational skills. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure of emergency situations. </li></ul> <p>Modes of Work</p> <p>Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
